Saturday night party, then Ed Sheeran sends the locals home happy?

I can't believe I've googled Ed Sheeran Tour Dates twice in one day, to double check, but he's definitely not available on the Sunday.

If the O-Rod info is correct, and I see no reason to doubt it, then that 100% rules Sheeran out of a headline slot.

That’s a double serving of good news

Can definitely see it being Olivia Rodrigo Friday, Fred Again Saturday and Rihanna Sunday with Stevie Wonder as back-up in case Rihanna falls through.

If Stevie is even remotely gettable then he’d surely be option A and not a back up.

Sack for Fred and have a trio of Stevie, Rihanna and O Rod.

Is Glastonbury in danger of damaging its reputation? Serious question.

With the poor line up last year particularly following the SZA fall out and the possibility of a poor set of headliners this year, is the esteem and distinction of the festival as one of the best in the world at threat? We know there's more to Glastonbury than the headliners but the public often judge it by the top row. If the general public lose interest, does the festival suffer?

I don’t think so. SZA fell flat but the other two headliners sold out Wembley Stadium next summer. The year before they had 3 acts who literally detoured in the middle of stadium tours.

My take on it is other festivals (Reading/Leeds in particular) have more to lose if they were to fail to book strong headliners. Glastonbury's stellar reputation will be safe for a few more years even if 2025 headliners are viewed as disappointing.

No.

Very worst case scenario is that SZA has made ticket day ever so slightly easier for you all, but I doubt it would even have that much impact.  The people who are really bothered about the Pyramid headliners will still remember the Elton and Coldplay ginormocrowds.

I am still impressed Dua has parlayed it into a stadium tour. Genuinely didn't think she was on the level, but then, what do I know.

I will say that a trio of Olivia Rodrigo / Fred again... / Rihanna would cover a few bases, but again, I just can't shake it on Rihanna. Where is the news she is definitely touring next year coming from? Is there any obligation for her to honour the deal if she was on the board for 2023? All that stuff.

(I'm probably just grouchy because she wouldn't play Disturbia, a top-ten banger.)

I don't think there's anything linking her to the festival, and the news this morning that she turned down presumably a shedload of cash to headline Coachella strongly suggests she'll look at Glastonbury's iffer and burst out laughing.

When you're net worth exceeds £1 billion, do you even make decisions based on money?

Could Fred be Other headliner material, rather than Pyramid, is the thing I keep thinking.

he absolutely should be, his monthly spotify listeners are less than a quarter of what SZA has, he's released two (proper) studio albums and is the very definition of a flavour of the month artist. Also part of the royal family and has massively benefited from nepotism, which has undoubtedly helped his meteoric rise. Not that it really matters but it does add to my dislike of him, that and the fact he seems very smug too

Shows why Spotify streams do not correlate to headliner crowds. He's very far from my taste but I'm certain he'd draw a more than decent crowd at the Pyramid.

SZA showed us that monthly Spotify listeners is a pointless metric to use.

There was more people at his Other sub set than her Pyramid headline set.

I watched some of the Coldplay set having a drink Saturday night and it looks AMAZING on the TV

id be willing to bet if you could see spotify listens split by region in stead of a global figure -  SZA probably would not be so far ahead of Fred Again.   Id be willing to bet (absolutely no way to check).  if you could see just UK streaming figures Fred would have more than SZA - who I guarantee is mostly US listeners

My main reservation about Stevie Wonder is that he has had a few years of health issues and he is no doubt a great get if they could guarantee it but it would be a high risk booking.

Can you imagine if ended up being O Rod - Fred + late Stevie replacement. That would be bad...

For that reason I think they will steer clear.

    • Absolutely - it's a double edged sword. Weezer is the only one I can recall them amending, but since the last fallow year we've had Phoebe Bridgers, Courteeners, Myles Smith, Yungblud and The Vaccines (and I suppose Djo count?) play very small slots on Woodies for artists their size. That's not even including secret sets, and ones like Sigrid and Tom Odell that spilled out of the tent. See also: Wet Leg and Barry Can't Swim on the Park   Part of me loves that this happens because getting a big artist in a small slot feels intimate and unique to Glastonbury from any other festival, but it does come at the cost of feeling anxious that they'll shut the stage down before you get there!
    • Lovely Brexit doc on bbc2 for anyone who wants to relive those golden years.
    • I think some folks are underestimating how many millennials, now into heavier music, were genuinely also into things like techno and happy hardcore in the 90s and early 00s. Scooter may be about is commercialized as it gets when it comes to happy hardcore and techno, but for many, they won't be just a 'silly act' they will be a genuine nostalgia act.
    • Can anyone share please as can’t access the app
    • Someone said something along the lines of "the lows were really low but they highs were really high" and I think that sentence sums up my ps experience this year. Thursday was a downer (even though I got to see men I trust, geese, oklou and fcukers), but the weather, the missed shows and the uncertainty (those comms...) made it a bad day. Friday and Saturday on the other hand where rly good, a bunch of amazing shows each day (The Cure one was quite something), that surprise on Saturday...   Will be back next year, hope they get another impressive lineup as this year (quality and quantity wise) and that tickets and  primarily hotels don't get much more expensive.
