Pressure pushin' down on me, pressin' down on you, no man ask for... Let's find out on the 00Z!

THROUGH TO GATES OPEN

Now effectively no rain overnight Friday into Saturday and it's going to be dry through to gates open.

GATES OPEN & WEDNESDAY

Light rain when gates open, scorching temps of 22-23 at 9am, but with some nasty rain missing the site to the west.

image.thumb.png.4a4f40f2ba3ff36cea864bb20edf62b6.png

Rain around for most of the day, but very warm at 25-26 degrees.

Overnight temps into Thursday of 15-16.

THURSDAY

Rain throughout the day again, with the threat of heavy stuff, highs of 22-23.

Overnight temps of 14.

image.thumb.png.31a86529423ab274c4110ac9f6857cf0.png

This is not going to be good. On top of the rain, a pocket of a low is opening over to the south west.

image.png.26170bf2771a34b9a1e5dae713d1ea1b.png

FRIDAY

Rain through Friday, highs of just 15. Even only 15 in London.

Overnight temps of 12-13.

image.thumb.png.aa7387aa95a60778437c2ad810d70eb3.png

The low pressure pocket plonks itself over the UK.

image.png.4bfbdd0c73f8cff4db65b2f8a5f1126e.png

SATURDAY

Rain through the day, highs of 17-18.

Overnight temps of 14-15.

image.thumb.png.f2004f8dbb8f91b4c600e9157ca50d77.png

Pressure never builds over the UK.

image.png.1762760df0e10b8d9f497003358601ea.png

SUNDAY

A dry day, would you believe! Highs of 21-22!

Overnight into Monday, 12-13.

image.thumb.png.f57a931d8e6c137ab7d917298654b73e.png

It's not until Sunday afternoon that high pressure starts to win.

image.png.505a02c587931a97b71a1d69300ff006.png

SUMMARY

The worst run yet.

Rain at the start of the festival, with the high never fighting back until the Sunday afternoon.

However, I'm heartened that the predicted temps of 15 for London on the Friday 28th, while also present on the last run, appear to be a clear outlier.

But this is going to be a bumpy ride of high vs. low pressure!

6z: 4:30am

The ECM is a bit of a mess so clearly hasn’t made its mind up..

Very different from the GFS, doesn’t bring any rain in on Wednesday..

IMG_4411.thumb.png.dfb01374aa24dad4d656997299eb9c4f.png

but develops a cheeky little low to the SW which would bring heavy showers for Thursday..

IMG_4412.thumb.png.8764f82f3aa9f4618d5b68e565664b88.png

in complete contrast to 12 hours ago, it brings in a nasty looking area of low pressure to the W of Scotland, and then for the rest of the weekend we’re stuck in a cooler, showery airstream, which might not be too bad..

This is such a messy picture, we can’t place faith in any of the models at this stage. There is no consistency between any of the models or even from run to run.  Will be Monday before we get any idea..

The mean ensembles have picked up the low pressure now too so it's starting to look likely it is going to be there in some regard. It's not game over though, the track it takes is going to be critical.

Hopefully we'll get some better runs for the rest of the day. It seems to be 2 good runs and 2 sh*t runs each day at the moment!

They were getting it about spot on now worryingly 😞

Was it not a far less volatile picture though? About 12 hours ago everything was looking grand.

2022 and (particularly) 2019 were still quite changeable right up until the day before.

    • Maybe hopeful but get Knocked Loose on the Sunday opposite the legend. Similar to the slot Turnstile had in 2022. Would be absolutely phenomenal.
    • One of my personal favourite bands at the minute - MUNA. Was very surprised not to see them booked in 2023 with their last album but hopefully they'll be around next year. Very fun new album from these guys and, as aforementioned, another standout for me at Big Weekend.
    • Absolutely second this. Were great at Big Weekend and already have a great catalogue of songs forming so far. Would love to see them on the farm!
    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
