This is the correct take. 

The lineups strength really hasn't changed at all since I've been going, the only difference is sometimes there are more things I'd like to see vice versa.

On reflection, I think I've only ever previously done 0 or 1 Pyramid headliner at every festival.  This year I'll almost certainly be doing 2 and might even get dragged along to all 3 and have 2 or 3 way clashes for all of them.  I won't miss Elton.  I'll probably give GnR a go.  If I can persuade any of my cohorts to swerve AM for Kelis then I will, but they all seem fairly set on it.  It's not a weak lineup.

I think the pyramid headliners match last years with being the biggest trio I can remember? Maybe 2011 with Coldplay/ Beyonce/ U2. 

I think the smaller stage headline sets are weaker this year (Wizkid on OS, alt-J/ Fatboy on the Park/ Hot Chip on Woodsies) but then the undercards are actually a lot stronger.

It's going to be weird seeing Fred Again's crowd dwarf Wizkid's.

I couldn't think of any. There's probably a significant list and I'll shortly feel like an idiot, but I think it's interesting that, if I'm right, he's the only person ever to headline a stage like this just playing other people's records.

Having "accidentally" seen him live twice, first time back in the Lost Vagueness days (he was drunk and dreadful) and once more recently in the Glade, I can report that he plays his own stuff, but not in any interesting way. May as well just put a CD on, which could be what he does.

He plays his own stuff, but surely he's just mixing that stuff in with other people's tracks, no? Is he playing live, in the vein of Jon Hopkins, Four Tet, Bicep etc?

I really don't think so, from what I could make out he's just putting on one tune after another.

His best sets are usually at the more obscure venues/times. The Gas Tower set last year was really good and I don’t remember hearing anything obvious. I’m always baffled at how he keeps getting away with playing Right Here, Right Now and the like at some of his main gigs. How is he still milking his own songs over twenty years later?

That's what I mean - I think he's bordering unique in being a DJ headlining big stages (e.g. second stage at Latitude etc) at non-dance festivals, when he's 'only playing records'. Be fascinated to see if anyone has any other examples of artists achieving that.

I believe Jamie XX was a DJ set when he headlined The Park in 2015.

The line-up isn't awful, there have definitely been worse in the time I've been going (hello 2016!), but it does feel a bit meh.

I'm delighted with GnR although I accept it may not be great, but there has not been any WOW name. Something you wouldn't necessarily expect but they somehow pull it out the bag or something lower down the bill that I'm excited to see. 

There is though still a chance with The Other and Pyramid yet to be fleshed out, maybe Acoustic could provide something surprising, Glade certainly won't. 

Having said all that, there was so much I wanted to see on the big stages last year, I came away feeling like I hadn't spent enough time in T&C, Avalon etc. so I'm actually looking forward to more exploring.

It's funny how subjective everything is. Stacked or not. The last time I went in 2017 with my friends, there was general consesus among us that it was stacked from top to bottom.

For me, in comparison last year was not that great. West Holts, my normal default field of choice looked seriously lacking. Last year's Park also held more interest from me. 

This year's, it's switched, with a lot of acts I'd like to see on WH and next to nothing on the Park. 

People need to stop expecting their own personal Spotify account to be represented on the stages, it's never gonna happen.

Some years the moons, stars, and planets might align... But not every year.

I had a bit of a dud year for example in 2011, but I still had a super wicked mad cool time.
