Yeh it was weird coz it's not particularly something I've come across at glasto before, and I was definitely coherent at that point, but idk I guess I just wasn't their vibe and one or two of them were being polite carrying on the conversation when the rest of the group didn't want it. It's cool it just stung a little as it does remind you you're alone.
Having done the overnight drive/early queue every fest since 2010, this year we're in at Holt Farm. Can't access the car park until midday on Weds so looking to drive down early AM from West Yorks (maybe 5am start?), meeting all the gang in Sainsbury's in Street about 11:00am, then driving in convoy to the site about 11:30am. Feels a bit weird not looking to pull an all nighter and drinking all night in the queue!
That sucks to hear. Unless you're a liability, aggressive or an incoherent dribbling mess, come on in, I say. Some of my favourite hours at the festival have been hanging and dancing with strangers, only to go separate ways and never see each other again afterwards. It's like having a best friend for three hours. Hope you bump into kinder people this year.
The fires died because of late night areas becoming the go to instead of going back to your campsite and chilling around a campfire with beers or a spliff or ten.
