Absolutely have RM in a mid afternoon Rufus Wainright/Crowded House slot. But a Diana Ross/Kylie sized legend slot? Not for me.

Do RM even come close to having the catalogue for legends? As a very casual listener I can pick out More Than This and Love Is The Drug. Doesn't even come close to Diana Ross and I've literally never put her or The Supremes on of my own free will.

Roxy Music has absolutely no cut through with my generation (33yo). Never knowingly heard them the same way the likes of Diana Ross, Barry Gibb, Lionel etc are engrained in music and pop culture history. Even ELO has Mr Blue Sky that everyone knows.

Roxy do seem like an odd choice given the recent trend but I wouldn’t say that they are undeserving. Perhaps this is part of a deliberate attempt to shift the emphasis of the slot. I do wonder if Michael and Emily want to cry a little inside when they see the choreographed bouncers dance…
