''There are 730 vaccination centres at the moment, with a further 180 and 100 more hospital sites scheduled to open this week.''

This is from the Guardian and I think it just refers to England. That makes just over 1000 vaccination centres soon.

If each site does 500 doses a day, that is 500,000 doses given out per day and well over 2 million a week. With the right supply that seems do able surely? Oxford say that production will be 2 million doses a week by mid January and then there is still Pfizer too!

Unsure why this merited a downvote @FestivalJamie, your negativity must be exhausting for you. I was just thinking peoples thoughts on whether my rough additions were in anyway realistic😇

What possible reason could there be to turn down help to vaccinate people faster?

Because Hancock is a charlatan who knows the end of the pandemic is the end of him getting his name in the paper every day. Other than Devi Sridhar and Neil Ferguson no one is dreading the end of the pandemic as much as Matt Hancock.

Presumably then he'll also have to return to his job as a deputy branch manager at Dixons.

Likely a trap, creating false demand from the public, so they eventually beg to have the military on the streets.

Nothing good is likely to come from it. It certainly isn't just about a 'virus'

For virus with a lower kill threshold than influenza in under 70s, there really is something far more sinster afoot with these lockdowns.

Why the fuck were they not already involved?? Jesus Christ there's no fucking hope for us with this lot in charge.

Biggest vaccine roll out ever and you're only NOW thinking, "hmm maybe we should use the military MEDICAL teams".

Because it may end up being like test and trace - loads of people able to vaccinate but not enough of the over-promised vaccine...

Fine then. We'll have enough eventually though. Get everyone ready. This will make much more of an impact then test and trace.

My mum is a phlebotomist and they haven’t been asked to help out at all (yet). I can’t believe they aren’t being asked to give vaccines at the same time they are taking blood either at clinics or doing home visits. Especially as most of the people she deals with are in the vulnerable category, and it would only take minutes added on to their usual job. They are literally the experts with needles!

Being wrong has never stopped Ferguson’s career so he’ll probably be OK. Sridhar will still have a good career even if there’s a diminishing audience for her unprovable ‘if you’d have listened to me everything would have been fine’ retweets of old articles.

Hancock knows he’s the fall guy though. He needs this to continue because once questions gets asked and inquiries start he’s the sacrificial lamb.

Hancock makes a fair point that if restrictions are widely ignored then cases will go up anyway. That doesn’t necessarily mean that more enforcement is necessary/warranted.

There are five key elements: 1) policy 2) communication 3) enforcement 4) leading by example and 5) personal responsibility.

Government are responsible for the first 4 and if 5) isn't sufficient to stabilise the situation they have it in their control to adjust the other measures until this occurs.

But they don't.

It’s another sign of this woeful government that they’ve now turned the blame game onto us. We shouldn’t fall for it this is on them.
