It totally baffles me that the population of country without ID cards would just let that happen.

Personally I love the idea of an ID card would save me so much hassle personally and at work but I do understand why people are hesitant about them.

ID card makes sense (as long as they're free of course, which they won't be because it would encourage poor people to vote as per the story this morning) just not linked to vaccine history and being "renewed" each time a new vaccine comes out

I thought they were going to target some professions in the next phase?

It has been discussed, but the latest newspaper leaks suggest that the JCVI believe that the additional bureaucratic burden that doing this would create will slow down the vaccination programme and that it makes more sense just to go by age.

If we don't have a card that holds all the information we currently hold on various bits of plastic and paper I can see no way we would get to a stage where having had an injection or not comes in - where does it end?

Sorry you have the shits you can't come in. Not tonight folks you sneezed in the queue.

Makes sense. The old throughput over ordering angle.

Yeah sometimes it’s better to just get the job done than spend time worrying about getting the process nailed down to a T. No doubt there will be a couple of younger teachers or policemen that go on to develop serious illness due to not being vaccinated, but an overall slowdown in the programme would have much more of an adverse effect on society as a whole.

As an aside, I was talking to colleagues in Dubai on zoom this morning and they told me they literally don’t have a priority list there. You just pay to book your vaccine whenever you want it.

Oh, so just in the aggregated data ZOE is providing, not to capture anything additional?

that's what I'm thinking - then if they show an uptick and its clear a lot have logged symptoms within a few days of the vaccine at least there's an alternative explanation. It did look weird the other day when they went up while the studies based on testing went down, especially as they've been pretty accurate the whole time

I thought this week and next were supposed to have significantly lower supply?!

Probably due to the way the supply chain works, is that it takes a week to get them into the country, then distribution around to smaller hubs then out to the centres/doctors etc.

So be more noticeable from next week for 2 weeks.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
