Cheers fella. I understand they are still looking for volunteers, as I asked this question. They told me they are ‘vaccinating’ volunteers this and next week (at the Manchester site), about 30 a day. And will do the second jabs in c8 weeks. Assume each site is following similar timescales. Good luck, keep us posted.

ok so ive been trying to piece together my 2 different isolation time notifications ..... and is it possible it might be my neighbours on the floor above that have triggered the app because of their proximity ? the app is definitely registering them as at weird times of the night I have matched key counts ..... I cant think of any occasions where I might have been in contact with 2 people simultaneously to cause the 2 pings within an hour ? would the 2 of them putting in different symptom times cause my extension from 6 days to 11 ?

That's assuming that the government uses SMART objectives, sometimes your better using PURE or CPQQRT.

Depends on what the pandemic is! We certainly have platforms now that can develop vaccines rapidly, all depends on quick identification of the causative agent and whether we can identify what the best target to include in the vaccine is (and whether that elicits a good immune response). I’m intrigued to see what the mRNA vaccines can do for flu. Proper bespoke vaccines rather than a cocktail of ones we already have based on the most prevalent strains.

Just watching local news here. When Johnson says he hopes the entire vaccination network will deliver 'hundreds of thousands' of vaccinations per day, just realised how vague that is.  Could be 150,00, could be 999,000. Not useful or measurable at all. 

We also have a large GP Trust hub centre opening at the local racecourse, and their ambition is, if all goes well apparently, 'up to' 1000 per day.

As I said if they had said at the beginning their target was to offer x amount of vaccines by 15th Feb then great. But they said their target is to vaccinate by that date and now they are changing their wording on that target. It doesn't really give off the image of a trustworthy government.

As I recall, the original promise was to vaccinate the first four JCVI groups by mid Feb - add them together and it comes to c13.5m. 

Now I appreciate that this government has a pathetic record of meeting any target it has set. However, what I am taking this to mean is that by Feb 15 all those in those first 4 groups will have been given the opportunity to have had a jab; and I don't think anybody is arguing for mandatory vaccination.

But having listened to today's press conference I came away with the impression that there has been little to no forward planning - the military guy said that they had been bought in 8 weeks ago, they've had f***ing months to plan this. And this has been their shortcoming all the way through this pandemic - No contingency planning, No forward planning; ask anybody in education.

So lets not get hung up on forms of words but if they fail to have as many as want it in those first 4 groups vaccinated by mid Feb then we should all give them hell.

Crikey, my 90 year old mum lives in Leicestershire and hasn't heard a thing. Is Stroud like a reverse Bournemouth and everybody leaves when they retire?

Lots of good points.

I'm very fearful of how far short we will fall and the implications for deaths, hospitalisations and an extended lockdown that will do great economic and social harm.

It won't be anything close to the target for Feb 15.

And we still haven't done anything about airport testing or proper quarantining.

That target/original promise is basically a bastardisation of the original plan. Which was to administer two doses of vaccine to approximately 26 million people in what was described as the at risk category plus care workers/NHS etc, so 52 million shots or so to be administered within three weeks of each dose.

That got altered when the intervening period was changed to 12 weeks (understandable but not optimum, however, needs must).

I notice now that this initial plan solely concentrates on the most at risk group comprising 13 million odd - and with one dose initially. 

I think we get pedantic when trying to pin the Government down to specifics is like picking up mercury.
