I don't think it should be forgotten that Johnson also illegally disbanded the legislature when they didn't do what he wanted them to.

With the UK’s latest lockdown, is it everything closed for the next seven weeks or just schools? Could hairdressers etc open before?

Seems like some reporting lags here ... maybe why ours dropped 10k hopefully not the same with yours

I wouldn't think too hard about it. When I had to self-isolate a week or so before Christmas, my whole family each got different times in the text that was sent by contact tracing and the app. There were 5 different days for all self-isolation periods to end across the apps and text messages even though we are were all household contacts and had been 'in contact' with the person in the household who tested positive.

I would go with the earlier date unless you develop symptoms (unlikely) in which case I believe you would then need to restart the 10-day clock.

I’m going with the later date ... as that’s what my work should hopefully pay me too ... I’m just intrigued really ... it also takes me out the firing line if I test negative and in that time hopefully the case numbers drop 🙂

That makes sense going with the later date if you are able to get paid for it! You still have to self-isolate for the whole 10 days even if you test negative so that shouldn't be an issue (this is what happened to me - I tested negative and the other 3 members of my household were all positive).

Just got back from Fareham Community Hospital for my jab as one of the Over 75 group. Had the text yesterday afternoon, made an appointment for 2 p.m. today and was in and out in two minutes, then had a compulsory sit down for 15 minutes, but no cup of tea. Its like a military operation stacks of volunteers directing in the car park, marshalling in the hospital to the rooms, taking details, so professional. Got a card to carry now, got a sticker for my coat, explanatory leaflet, now await notification of 2nd jab. Must be doing hundreds today, so impressive. I gather that after two weeks I have up to 70% immunity.

Sounds good! To counteract that positivity, on a  football forum I read there was an example of a barbers shop in London that has started selling face masks and hand sanitiser as well as offering hair cuts so that they qualify as an essential business. I hope that if the cases do not come down as quickly as hoped with this latest lockdown, the government do stamp down on these businesses, scale back 'essential' to match the March lockdown and provide the necessary financial assistance required to enable them to close again.

My sister has been told she could be being redeployed at the hospital from physio therapy to the covid ward 😓 they also have over 250 covid patients in and 27 in icu and they expect over 300 next week. And she’s not even trained for the covid ward!! She’s just a physio assistant.

I feel like it’s all getting too much too fast this time around. 😓 feels way worse than the first wave I also know loads of people positive now which I didn’t know many in the first wave.

Nightmare. Those working in those wards are going to be so exhausted after all this...I imagine quite a few will e suffering from PTSD.

Yeah. My great auntie was admitted to hospital with covid too but luckily she’s been released back to the care home now which is a positive sign!
