    Glastocam!

Ground doesn't look in too bad shape which surprises me, as it has rained in the South West pretty much every day since 1 January!

    2024 Headliners

Drake? There were rumours of a European tour this year.
  3. King Charles has cancer. It is not prostate cancer but was discovered during a prostate operation. I assume it is bowel or bladder.
  4. I am vehemently anti-Tory. I will probably still vote for Labour but I really wish there was an alternative.
  5. Labour are held to a different standard because they are the party in opposition aspiring to be the party in charge. When your pitch to be elected is essentially boiling down to 'we are not the Tories' because the progressive, differential policies once proposed keep getting scrapped, they are going to get criticised as they are not offering an alternative to one of the worst governments of our time. I have not visited this thread for a few months and in that time, Labour have reneged on the green pledge, the bankers bonuses cap, policies regarding trans rights and the nationalisation of water/rail. It is so uninspiring and makes it harder to convince people that politicians are not all the same when Labour are so scared of criticism from right wing voters and press. If you are being criticised by the Daily Mail for your policies, chances are you are doing something right.
  6. An Oasis reunion would do Elton numbers I think.
  7. What was this? The original tweet has been deleted.
  8. For those who got through themselves, if you have a white page after the deposits button appears (i.e. the step after the holding page I believe), should you refresh or let it sort itself?
  9. 3 out of 5 groups got through, including mine. I personally saw nothing but blue for an hour on both sales. So annoying!
  10. I would die of happiness
  11. I checked my registration and saw that I had changed my postcode in August. I completely forgot about it and if we’d have got through tonight, I’d have been the one letting 5 mates down with incorrect details 😳

    2024 Headliners

I'd personally absolutely hate it if Pink was one of the headliners. Nothing against her as an artist just do not like any of her songs which isn't handy as they are ubiquitous. Where have the Coldplay rumours come from?
  13. Agreed. File this under the 'things that Starmer says to win an election but definitely doesn't mean and will renege on once he wins'...
  14. Absolutely! The latest iteration of Starmer being absolutely petrified of offending Tory media/voters.
  15. I think this is a good idea but does pander a lot to right-wing voters (which make up a large percentage of our population); personally, I don't agree with the idea of immigrants or asylum seekers having to pay more tax than the rest of us just by virtue of not being born here, but it would definitely make immigration more palatable to these voters. Practically speaking though, would it not dissuade people from coming to work here if they could be taxed at up to 55% and, for the lower earners, we would be making it even harder for them to survive?
  16. Been absent from this page for c. 40 pages. What have I missed? I saw Starmer lurching further to the right at the weekend and reneging on another leadership pledge by promising not to increase income tax on top 5%...
  17. Agree entirely and as time goes on and more pledges are reversed, the more apathetic I become about Labour/politics in general. There is also no real point at this stage of pointing out the policies Labour has suggested as, given Starmer's track record, there is absolutely no guarantee that it will make the manifesto. In fact, the opposite is more likely.
  18. Really, really fed up with this. It has rained every single day in July so far where I am in Devon and it's just getting worse.
  19. We better hope he starts another campaign for free school meals and reversal of the 2-child cap as then Starmer may piggy back that again.
  20. Free school meals the latest victim of “fiscal responsibility” this morning.
  21. CGT should be at the same rate as income tax, as should the tax on dividends. I cannot believe we ever got to a position (although we are not alone) where passive income is taxed at a lower rate than earned income!
  22. Which of course is complete tosh and incredibly short-sighted. The reversal of this cap would pay for itself many times over when you consider the proven wider social impact/cost of children being brought up impoverished. Any Tory argument about fiscal irresponsibility could also of course be instantly rebutted by their PPE/Covid record.
  23. It's because the "fiscally responsible" argument does not excuse the inhumanity of this policy on balance (where it perhaps would for other pledges Starmer has u-turned on), so it doesn't quite cut it, and then all you are left with is supporting an inhumane Tory policy.
  24. I said the opposite, i.e. I will still vote for Labour. But I understand why people feel they have nothing worth voting for given the current offering of Tory or Tory lite.
