I think the decision in schools will actually be based on the science. If this new variant is actually more transmissible or worse for kids they will close the schools.

That would mean them taking decisions based on science rather than what will keep them popular with their base. Every action they have taken has been a reaction to ensure they're loved by the public.

Tougher restrictions was an easy one, even with Christmas, because the public could see that they were a recipe for disaster with the case rises.

Keeping children in school seems to be one of their priorities, which is good in so far as they do slip behind quickly (as noted by a previous poster) and will then need to catch up. However, keeping them out would dumb the kids down more, make them prime fodder to believe the red tops and become Tories of the future. I guess that's a Tory win-win.

Apparently millions of pounds of seafood stuck in Kent slowly going off and the French don't seem to want it.

Does anyone want the fish apart from a few Tories who think it's still 1830?

Yes. He's desperately needy so surrounds himself with sycophants and yes men.

Who cares if they are any good - say nice things about me and feed my ego...

Bloody hell. You've missed it as well. It was a (admittedly poor) pun. Adoored, website picture of a doo......ah, never mind.

Trump is the same. May seem weird considering, you know, everything, but underneath it all he is desperate for everyone to like him.

An irony is that he detests his own base; all he wants is to be accepted by the establishment figures who all hate him.

A friend of mine has just tested positive. She lives with her twin sister whose tested negative. Both of them are teachers at separate schools.

Neither have symptoms. Think this just shows how random the testing is. You don’t know what results you’re going to get. Better to be on the safe side.

I hadn't noticed the picture of the door! Had I done I would have absolutely liked the comment (rather than take a trip to down(vot)ing street).

Had to give me daughter a test yesterday which was one of the more troubling experiences of my life given she's only 11months old. Thankfully the tears subsided after a while and once she was bribed with a farleighs rusk.

Most likely just a cold but doctor insisted (cheers mate needed to self isolate on my final 2 days of work before Christmas... not)

It'll be a shitshow if it comes back positive.

After clicking the link I finally understand... before that I had been trying to work out what the meaning of adoored was or what the fuck a doo was.  Even google wasn't helping.

If that's the main thing propping up the Tories in the polls, then it's hugely positive news.

Sunak is inevitably going to become public enemy number one just as soon as the dust settles and the full scale of the impact on the economy and national finances is revealed.

    • I got in for £11.25 in the end, which was absolutely ridiculously good value, and made the queues and overselling of the venue much more tolerable! Sniping in on other people’s unwanted tickets on the day of an event might become my new hobby I think 🥳
    • Ann and Nancy Wilson are planning a final world tour for HEART starting next year. They were never at Glastonbury. They should do it.
    • sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.
    • Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.
