Not even thought about that TBF. The main issue I have is that this holiday was booked pre-pandemic and I have got myself so far ahead with work for it that I'm not sure how I will style out not doing anything for two weeks if I don't take it!

It may not be too high but you are still risking spreading round to somewhere else or bringing back to Lewisham.

As the UK advice is to not travel it also means you are stuffed if stricter restrictions come in place, you were told not to go so the Government won't need to ensure you can get back in the way you normally would.

Ultimately it's up to you but it seems to me to be much more selfish behaviour than not wearing a mask.

Okay, not aware of the govt advice level, will take a look thanks. Have been leaving it all until the last minute as no point in booking in advance when our original hol got cancelled last week. 

Was going to go to Turkey as their level is the lowest so less risk there. Plus if they didn't want me they wouldn't be letting us in.

Because its what people live for every single year.  People work hard just to have that 2 week break away from it all, to have family time, to improve their mental health and well-being.   Much of life is about risk vs reward, some people will do it.

We booked a holiday during Covid for October.  We’ve cancelled due to the quarantine rules as both of my children have started new schools this year.  If it had been in August we’d have gone.  Whether people think that’s right or wrong is another thing but we’d have made the judgement for our family.

Being called selfish because you want to go on holiday is ridiculous.  Follow the guidelines mate and do what’s best for you and your family.

Go for it if they are letting you in. Wear your mask and stay safe, but y'know, all we can do is try to get through things.

FCO travel advice is not what it says above. 

You can still go on holidays or travel for work.

FCO advises against travel unless essential apart from the list of exempt countries, of which Turkey is one.

So you are fine.

Travel to some countries and territories is currently exempted.

Mate, do whatever you feel is right & comfortable with.

In a time when there are strong views either way on what's going on with covid I don't think coming on here is a great way of judging what's right / wrong. You're the only one who can do that!

Cheers for the advice guys and no worries Ozanne. Our (it's just my wife and I) policy has been to wait until the lists get updated on Thursday and look into it then with a view to going to Turkey if it's still the safest option.

Rightly or wrongly, some people aren’t that afraid of catching coronavirus...

 

ONS survey suggests 1-in-500 of us have covid right now. That means that out of 200 people on the plane, there is a 67% chance that covid will not be on the plan.

 

Slim that down to the tiny number of people that will actually be in close contact with @Homer on the flight and that number swells to close to 100% (Even if you have 10 close contacts, there is a 98% chance that all 10 are covid negative)

 

Not to mention that the FCO explicitly say Turkey is safe.

 

I think he should go.

And there was me thinking Glastonbury was what people live for every year!

Our holiday in June was cancelled.  We've made the decision not to book anything until there is more certainty about the virus, whether we are Covid-free or there is a vaccine, just don't feel comfortable travelling anywhere at the moment.  I took 2 weeks off in August and spent time with the kids at home and surrounding areas, certainly filled the gap of a holiday abroad.

Planes are fairly safe as air is filtered...on the other hand they are bad for the environment.
