2021 Headliners

What's this? I'd take Flo headlining all day long.

My memory isn't as clear as I'd like, but at a festival last year,  and came indirectly from someone who'd worked in artist liaison* at Glastonbury earlier in the season.

Words to the effect of "She's been promised it / She's agreed to do it (can't remember which) on the next album."

I've added the (I think reasonable) assumption that the next album will equate to 2021 though could mean 2022 especially with stuff getting pushed back.

Could well be usual festival bullshit, but as I said it makes sense to me.

* Full disclosure, this is not anywhere near as impressive or reliable as it may sound. The staff rumour mill can be even less reliable than the public rumour mill at times.

Ha that's fine - interesting none the less when we're fairly thin on other info at this point.

It would be a major result if the "one returning headliner" for 2021 was Florence. Pretty much guarantees a really interesting set of headliners for me, ruling out the Coldplays and the like.

Anybody think The xx could be in with a shout?

With a new album hopefully coming before next year, and having already headlined the Other, I think they’re due a big slot - although headlining is probably too unlikely.

Definitely not for next year. It's unlikely they'll have a new album out by then anyway. Jamie has a new album out this year, and is playing solo next summer (Primavera, possibly elsewhere?) and Romy has a solo album out later this year too.

Unlikely they'll be touring as a band next summer I'd have thought.

A new album with a couple of hits and they could possibly be in 2022/2023.

Don't mind Florence and the Machine, but just can't get on at all with the woman who sings for them.

Who, Florence? of FLORENCE and the Machine

Wait have I missed us officially losing Kendrick? I was under the impression it's all to play for with him

So was I, although I got lost a bit in the thread with all the Tom Meighan stuff so may have missed something. Surely there's no confirmation either way at the moment?

The info is still that he's not currently signed up for next year and something about him not typically wanting to tour in June, and with more and more festivals announcing lineups, he's slowly looking less and less likely. It's not all over by any means, but Ken's info on Taylor seems to be dead on so I'm certainly leaning towards it not happening.

Are Fleetwood touring next year? I know they were this year and i was hoping they would play glasto. I heard rumours that they wanted a arm and a leg to play , is that true or am i making things up?

If that is true, cant really respect that puts money before fans.

What about elton? Final ever tour?

    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
    • No argument that he’s bigger than ever, I just have no enthusiasm for it.
    • Keep in mind those crowds were full of teenagers. Glasto aint full of teenagers. Theres no way she could demand headline and get it because they got other acts to give the slot to who deserve it with a bigger catalog. Reading/Leeds would headline her cause its still LN.  If the fest was struggling its Other headline. But a 3rd down Pyramid is likely the landing spot. Itll go down like the Camila Cabello performance pretty much.
