This thing looks incredible.

"This year Greenpeace are thrilled to announce BEAM - an incredible collaboration with Nottingham artist Wolfgang Buttress, famed for his Hive sculpture in Kew Gardens designed to highlight the plight of the bees. Inspired by the existential challenges facing the pollinators, BEAM is a multi-sensory, immersive, sculptural experience. Accelerometers (vibration sensors) are used to measure the activity of the black bee colonies living on Michael Eavis' Worthy Farm at Glastonbury. These live signals will be sent to a sculptural installation called BEAM and expressed through light and sound. Algorithms will be used to convert these vibrational signals into lighting and sound effects that will allow the life of the bee colony to be visually and aurally experienced in real time."

Is it just me that a lot of the areas seem to be going the extra mile this year? Maybe the fallow year gave them time to think some cool stuff up.

We've also got new areas with the pier. Expanded areas in block 9 and a new arcadia its going to be a great year.

It looks amazing. Hope to get there early one morning before there’s anyone around to get some good photos of it.

I only did some proper time at Greenpeace last time, I want to support them more, I did sign up to make a regular donation at the festival a few years back, but I just feel it’s a token amount and I should be more active...

Wow. There do seem to be a load more things this year. My family told me about the Kew Gardens installation, so this will be great to see. I need more time to fit in all these areas.

And they have a little over seven weeks to build this, the pier, the new Block 9, Cineramegeddon, the new Arcadia, get all the traders in, put up all the flags, get 10,000 bins painted, put up 4 miles of super fence, laid down all the pathways and a whole bunch of other infrastructure.

Oh and about 20 stages and giant tents.

It's nothing short of miraculous.

I wonder if it’s a combination of a two-year prep post-fallow and...

...Emily went to Boomtown and thought “uh oh....?”!

All sorts, Europe festivals seem to be getting more popualr for people to travel to and a fair few are doing more and more instalations.

That and with the 50th next year which I'm sure will get a tone of coverage with press and how much the site has 'grown'.

Hey! only just saw this but you should join a local group they're always looking for people to help out and do some community stuff. Depending  on how much you want to get involved there is a range of options. You could help get some petition signatures and raise awareness in your local area about 'green' issues . Or if you're open to doing non-violent direct action they always have stuff available  (stickering, postering other 'totally' legal stuff). There is also loads of festival volunteering options including of course glasto. Check out greenwire and you'll be able to join a group there https://greenwire.greenpeace.org/uk/en-gb/

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
