He said not long after he played that he was trying to convince Diana Ross to do the gig. I would guess that Barry Gibb blurting out that Diana Ross was playing the slot meant that she was in talks, and then she chose some casino in Florida instead that weekend. Seems to me like last year was the window and she dodged it.

I think Kylie is the frontrunner but if there's a challenger is The Sarkeeze.

Talks sometimes seem to go on for a number of years.  The fact that talks happened at all still probably mark her out as the front runner.
