Going by coach for the first time this year so once I've arrived and set up on the Thursday I'll probably head to the park for a meze

Meze tastes better from the Park if you walk all the way there without looking back

Now when I used to camp is was always a Wednesday night BBQ, meet the neighbours share stuff round have a little camp site party.

i have now evolved into a campervan east caravan dweller, again we BBQ and meet the neighbours.

However this year we are thinking of cooking a big batch of Chilli to heat up once we are there and some crusty bread etc.

Anyone else have any first night food rituals or advice?

Now I'm a pretty open minded guy but I draw the line at cannibalism.

First meal for me is always a bacon, sausage and egg roll with a coffee at the Children's World cafe in Bella's Field on the Wednesday morning

Become something of a tradition for me and quite proud of the fact I've been their first customer of the festival for the last 3 years. Practically boardering on stalking them

Normally a BBQ in the cv fields on the Tues nt but that all went to pot last year after the day spent in traffic.

Tenting on my own this year so it will likely be whatever I can get my hands on after setting up camp.

Learned my lesson a couple of festivals ago with a spicy lentil curry which required multiple bog trips on the Sunday. I love my spicy grub as much as the next guy but festival fare has to be bland and stodgy for me, chip butties, bacon rolls, maybe falafel, mac n cheese.

The Children's world cafe in the tnc fields is a good shout. Maybe tea n cakes at the WI in the greenfield too.

We usually arrive Weds afternoon & once set up & had a wander we always end up in West Holts for a dish of Goan Fish curry - usually at dusk on that first evening. A proper ritual for us! :P

Goan fish curry stall, one of my favourites .. Mmm the  mackerel special or the kedgeree for brunch - can't beat it :-)

I'm stunned Mardy. I had no idea that you noshed on bollocks on the first night! What on earth do you get up to on the following nights?

Hehe, you've not run into us, right? A solid diet of bollocks, cobblers, horseshit, balderdash and guff

Very occasionally I'll go brown sauce but not often. Haven't touched ketchup on anything since I was about ten years old.

I don't do ketchup either, mind i can't get bacon here either cos of the fucking sanctions, so you know...
