I'm at peace with the state of play on the Pyramid, when you look at it rationally there really aren't too many options to pick from.

Heritage acts:

  • Macca - Active but seemingly happy to play US dates instead
  • Fleetwood Mac - Active but asking a fortune
  • Madonna - Rumoured to be active soon, but very, very expensive
  • The Eagles - Active, expensive, most people only know one or two songs
  • U2 - Not active, shat the bed last time
  • The Who - Three times in twelve years would be taking the piss
  • Stevie Wonder - Any need to have him back?
  • Reg - In Switzerland
  • Prince - Too dead

Contemporary acts:

  • Gaga - Seemingly happy in Vegas
  • Arctic Monkeys - Back in hiding after TBHC bombed
  • The Strokes - Active, but haven't been a GF headliner since 9/11
  • Arianna Grande - In America
  • Taylor Swift - Not active
  • Kendrick - Ditto
  • Led Zeppelin - Not a band
  • Oasis - Also not a band
  • The 1975 - Doing Reading/Leeds
  • Foals - No chance
  • Kings of Leon - Hahahahahahahahahahaha!
  • Florence - Done it too recently
  • Blur - Damon has 429 other projects going on

Get into the 21st Century man, have you not heard of Holograms?, Roy Orbison had a comeback tour last year, death is no reason to stop people speculating about you headlining.

Does info and discussion on these threads ever make the festival respond with an announcement ? I mean now the likes of Glastonbury fest feed , NME and Somerset Live will without question be making the most of it .... or will they just stick to a pre planned date ... and let the speculation continue even if it's spot on ?

I remember Emily saying they announced Radiohead so early because so many people knew/it had been leaked. Dunno what exactly she was referring to though.

It depends as said above, Radiohead was announced 'early' if thats to be believed but some acts write contracts on when they're allowed to announce it/when the festival is allowed too (see Metallica) due to other commitments/tours needing to be sold.

Tame Impala / Chemical Brothers / The Streets hitting any targets?

Surely Chems and The Streets are pretty much certain?

I reckon it’ll be someone like Catfish and the Bottlemen for the Friday

Forecastle is a nice little festival, but it's 30,000 capacity, its MUCH smaller than Bonnaroo, Coachella, or the other major US fests.

Last year at Bonnaroo The Killers attracted a pretty small crowd for their set. They've overestimated the North American festival market, essentially playing every fest at least once or twice. Kind of disappointed that I won't see a headliner at my first Glasto, but happy with Janelle, Chems, and Robyn (pleaseeeeee) being my headliners.

    • RIP Roy Hattersley
    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
