I know that lad from my time at uni in Southampton and putting on gigs with my mate and I think I can safely say he knows nothing so I wouldn’t put any faith in it

that's my general view after having had a google on him ... and yet he's from the iow, and giddings is known to talk about things, so i don't think its impossible he got something thru the grapevine.

I was discussing this with my friend who also knows him and agreed he could potentially know something about IOW but I’d take it with a pinch of salt because as you’ve probably seen he’s hardly pulling in big names as a promoter and I’d say it’s more of a guessing game than an ITK

What are the chances of Dylan deciding to do a couple of big shows where he decides to play the hits in a way that people actually want to hear? Only way I can see IOW and Hyde Park happening, really.

He could do his normal show at Hyde Park. It’s just a gig innit. IOW would probably be a poor fit, yeah.

Forgot that those two have shared in the past, as I only mentioned that as it contradicts this IOW fella’s info. Still don’t think he’s on the money like.

@Brave Sir Robin has heard Dylan’s Hyde Park bound also.

edit: or that he’s ‘in the frame’. Didn’t mean to misquote.

Yes I have, for BST. Nothing definite though.

Slim, he’s fairly set in his ways. But heck, he’s Bob Dylan, he’s earned the right to do whatever the hell he wants! In fairness to him he always plays at least half a dozen biggies, in a nice if somewhat smooth manner.

With AM, whether that 'iconic festival' comment was about a festival in this country or overseas.. surely they have to headline at least one UK festival in the summer? I'd be shocked if not, R+L or IOW

Not necessarily, they might rather just play their own gigs. To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't bother playing anywhere in Europe next summer. I certainly don't see them at IOW, they've never bothered headlining there before, I'm not sure why they would start now when they can pretty much choose to play wherever they want.

Throwing my hat into the ring, The cure,Macca and Elton. Although I'm really hoping I'm completely wrong and 1 of them turns out to be ac/dc (before anyone starts I know it's a massive long shot but a guy can dream)

Elton's in Switzerland over Glastonbury weekend so won't happen.

There is no evidence to suggest it thus meaning there's as much chance as Kendrick in reality.

Gaga's scheduled to play live next summer and was rumoured to show up a couple of years back.  On top of that she's starring in a movie filmed at the festival with Bradley Cooper, who's there every year and has also talked about playing next year.

Kendrick has just finished up all of his current touring plans.

True however nothing booked for the Friday

Looking at the dates of his tour, he's not playing 2 different venues on 2 consecutive nights at any point (as far as I can see).  Add to that his latter day issues with his voice and I would put him in the 'extremely unlikely' category for this year.  I'd be willing to place huge money on him headlining next year though.  His farewell tour runs through until at least October 2020

Exactly what I was just about to say. Gaga also has a gap at the end of June from her Vegas residency.

The lack of rumours around the 3rd headliner, points to non-UK act* and almost certainly an act from the USA, which narrows the list considerably so I'm still sticking with Gaga. Won't hear anything for a while as the Vegas residency doesn't start until Dec but if I was a betting man, I'd timeline it all as such:

Late Dec : New album announced to coincide with start of Vegas residency. I'd hedge a bet it's called Enigma

Dec 28th. First date of Enigma residency in Vegas.

Feb : Rescheduled European dates from 2018 announced for late June & July (with obvious Glastonbury gap) to coincide with the planned break of the Vegas residency

Apr : Announced as headliner, either before or after resale date.

Out of all the options, she still fits best for the Occam's razor principle. Active next year,  gap in her summer schedule that starts 2 weeks before Glastonbury, rescheduled tour dates outstanding, high profile due to ASIB and new album heavily rumoured for next year.

(Possibly Kendrick is in the mix if a new album is out next year)

* - the only other option is a UK act who may be releasing a new album in spring 2018 and planning to tour it in the summer. Given it wouldn't be a recent Glastonbury act, that suggests AM.

    • The rumour was uk arena tour late this year.  Same as Charli xcx cant be announced until Reading headline is done.
    • Latest from the sun at least is that harry is still headlining but Olivia has turned down a spot next year to work on new music and hope for 2028.   So they can't have Fender, Fontaines, Harry, Olivia and Madonna.
    • I mean I don't think EC and FFDP are borderline sub, they wouldn't be any lower now.   2025 is about as strong as Bloodstock gets yet this year only one headline would sub and the others would play 3rd down or lower.    Machine Head wouldn't sub at Download regardless of rarity, they don't sell enough tickets and I'm not sure Gojira would sub either. Their last UK tour was a mix of smaller arenas and academy dates. Ally Pally being the only London date, not even Wembley Arena.
    • live music / main stage will generally end around 11pm but theres dj’s and late goings on right till 4am if you are so inclined.   Drinks are about £7.50 a pint probably and yes theres lots of mixed drinks / spirits / cocktails available to buy   wonderful festival, back for my third year in a row and 4th overall
    • If anyone sees Lakefest this weekend on any sites please post here, I’ve got alerts set. Been on TFG in recent years and not sold out yet.
