Neil said about there being some recent The 1975 info that came to him, and they've gone up as 'R', so maybe it's their emergence as a candidate?

Fair point. I still think Reading makes more sense for them (1975) at this stage but we'll see.

 He'll have his database of celebs failing in their tax liabilities, and a seperate one for criminal misdemeanours. Everyone's a c##t in russyworld, bar Nick Cave I believe.

Where is russycarps anyway, been quiet?

I would imagine he's currently occupied blowing a gasket over this morning's Daily Mirror front page.

Health and Safety - It has been researched and apparently there would a stampeed to the bars and portaloos when AM play anything off the new album.

Have AM gone down from SR to R?..

yep.

I feel less comfortable with it in light of some other info that came my way (nothing major, nothing concrete, just suggestive).

They're certainly not out of the running, but today I just don't sure-enough that they're likely to be doing it.

exactly that.

If what was said about 1975 - nothing certain - happens to all be true, then it seems unlikely to me that AMs can be doing it too.

I feel the 1975 info is good enough to stick them in as a rumour, and that makes me feel I can no longer justify AMs as a strong rumour (cos they only-just made SR anyway).

This rumour for 1975 to headline? not my cup of tea but looking at how their UK tour sold they obviously have the popularity

The 1975 would be a win/ win.

Keep those happy that moan about the same headliners and needingnew blood so to speak , but not totally risking it considering how popular they are.

Did the !975 play last year or was their last appearance when I saw them in 2016 in an early evening Other slot?

Quite a jump if they go from that to headliner.

2016, it's not that big of a jump over 3 years. Bearing in mind the other commonly touted new headliner Stormzy was playing in Silver Hayes that year!

Also I think the general consensus was The 1975 were getting lower slots than they deserved all over the place due to the fact they were playing pretty much all the major festivals. If they'd only done one or two they'd probably have been bumped up a fair bit.

I don't even think it was just that, I'm sure Neil mentioned a while ago that they chose to play slightly lower down themselves at Glastonbury but I might be remembering things wrong.

Fair. I don't doubt how embiggened they have become since then, I just thought it was note worthy.

Funny Chvrches were the band after them and no one is mentioning them in the same conversation any more when three years ago they probably thought they would be.

Yeah pretty sure The 1975 were bigger than Chvrches even at that time, it was a weird slot.

    • I want to chime in here and say that I think Simple Minds must be one of the more underrated bands of the 80s honestly. Empires & Dance and New Gold Dream are phenomenal albums. And two of my favourites of that decade in any genre.
    • Same, same. I am doing this for few years. Always works. There are some exceptions when the area completelly packed (i.e The XX this year), but even in this case it is much easier to walk from the right side.
    • You don't have to pay for an additional ticket but the front barrier at least is all controlled by security and a lot of people stay in there for the bigger acts so if you don't get there early enough you risk not being in there.   There is an option you can pay to have fast lane access priority which they suggest you arrive 30 minutes before a headline show but the first two sections are still even for them based on capacity. I did read that it's going very corporate and becoming too money money which I agree to an extent. There are points on the two biggest stages where not only accessing these bits is priority but dedicated quicker and direct access points for them too....but at €225 for the weekend I'm not sure I want to be pulled into that. I went with Three Days Grace, Linkin Park and Maiden being my must sees so I did what I had to for the latter 2 to get in to where I needed to. You do that too much though and it'll cost you your overall enjoyment of other bands there.   As an overall experience, it's definitely overrated to what I thought it would be. I will vouch for the food being decent.    The reason I haven't just gone in a bought too is because of the extra shipping fee and then selling it on if I didnt go. By QR code its easy to transfer like, but its a lot of money to commit that it might need selling later and to sell a ticket, £300 in fact. Hopefully they won't be the only festival to get Foos while not confirmed yet and Blink. But the Blink pulling power alone is there to be seen.
