Nah - it's well known that the Beeb vetoed The National as headliners and insisted on Ed Sheeran instead.

Really? If sincere apologies as I've been out of the loop, haven't been on here for a long time for various reasons.

QOTSA aren't a Glasto headliner in a million years. Have seen them a load of times, 7 or 8, over the last 15 years and sad to say they rarely deliver. They were bang average at Mad Cool in July. Wiped off the face of the earth by Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails who played after them. Men and boys. Night and day.

They were unbelievably good headlining the Other.

They were indeed, but headlining the Other and headlining the Pyramid are two very different propositions.

Yeah, unfortunately so. I reckon the Ronson producer thing was a move to get some "bangerz" to enable that crossover, but didn't quite get there. I do like Villains though. What they need is someone from the X-Factor to cover some shit, then they'd make it big time :D

They make better music than the Foos but they aren't on the same level popularity wise. At least not on this side of the atlantic. They are one of those bands in the no mans land between having done the other stage and not being quite big enough to headline the pyramid.

An itk guy on the R&L section says The 1975 are headlining R&L next year along with Twenty One Pilots and Foos. Wouldn't necessarily rule them out (although the only R&L headliners who've been booked for Glasto too have been co-headliners, other than The Libs but that was obviously a secret to replace Foos).

Fwiw the guy told us on here last year that Catfish would be announced for APE, for which everyone told him he was an idiot and he ended up being correct. He also told us The Killers were headlining Latitude, which I also think people called him an idiot for and he obviously ended up being right again.

He did say that the R&L headliners last year would be Arctic Monkeys, Kendrick Lamar and Florence and the Machine, but also said that the trio was an educated guess and what he'd been told weeks before he posted it. He also said the R&L announcement was late because they were late booking headliners, which seems pretty likely with them ending up with Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco and Kings of Leon.

Did he have anything to say about Glasto 2019 tho.....?

Childish gambino, Justin Timberlake and kanye headlining Coachella next year apparently

Kanye headlining... Interested to see how that will go down with his opinions and recent outings. Coachella doesn't strike me as a meeting place for conservatives. (Or maybe most people don't think in general, tend to overestimate humanity.)

What do people make of these new Kendrick leaks then? They don't exactly sound like DAMN. tracks (more TPAB vibes personally) but I stuff like the MJ sample (which seems to be really in at the moment with Drake and Em doing it) makes me think maybe their newer tracks? I dunno.

Still reckon he would have been doing more promo stuff if he was ramping up for a new era (and tbh he deserves a break at this point)

The owner donates hundreds of g’s to the Republican Party so might as well be.

Good to know, not that I have any intention in ever going.

Following this year, they seem to embrace the whole rock-music-is-dead-thing. Still rumours though, reads like a good educated guess. Childish Gambino bit surprising how fast he's growing.

He’s already a headliner in America so it isn’t really anything new. It seems like he’s about to ‘retire’ so Coachella could well be his last shows as Childish Gambino.

They could probably do with adding a rock name back in because those three together are positively boring.

    • Totally agree about PinkPantheress stage choice. 'Luckily' for me, one of my main targets, fakemink, was absolutely awful, meaning that I left early and was in a surprisingly good spot at Cupra before it got totally packed.
    • As many said before, not my favourite Primavera. sh*tty weather is something I'm not really used to when enjoying music. Poor communication (more than 1 hour long radio silence during the worst rain) didn't help, but the main problem was me. I decided to leave the venue after things seemed to be getting back to normal. Massive Attack were supposed to play again (with Hymn of the Big Wheel back on the setlist!) as were all other artists on the smaller stages (including Fcukers with one my favourite albums of the year). FOMO was at an all-time high. However, after 4 hours in the rain, I had to admit to myself that I'm not cut out for this. I wasn't even that soaked (water-proof jacket worked). I was just fed up with the rain, wind and cold and wasn't able to enjoy music anymore.   Also, they should stop ignoring the growth of some artists between signing them up and their actual performance. Both PinkPantheress and Ninajirachi sets were ruined for me by completely inadequate stage choice.   However, I felt very much the same way after the 2022 edition and have thoroughly enjoyed all subsequent editions. So I'm still buying early bird tickets for 2027 and hoping this was a hiccup not the start of a downward trend.
    • I will definitely be buying a 2027 early bird pass, partially because of the priority reservation privileges for the Ciutat sets. Hopefully the organization will take action to improve upon this year's failings. Because I thought the free water options and sound quality were an improvement over last year, so clearly they can actually implement positive changes.   I also hope all the douchebag chompers get in the sea, cause I was more bothered by them than in the past few years.   Highlights: The Cure, Ninajirachi, Knocked Loose, Current 93, Blood Orange.
    • Similar feelings to a few others on here. Not my personal favourite edition but a long way from giving up on it. Felt overcrowded at times and there are just too many people there that don't seem to like music that much! Hardly went to main stages which was the plan. Highlights Ralphie Choo, rusowsky, Gorillaz, Geese, Gelli Haha, The Sophs, PinkPantheress, Dijon. Accommodation booked for next year. Thanks for your company and comments over the past year.
