Are they really too big to headline the Other?

In terms of the size of the band, massively. You won't find another act headline Other that can sell out Hyde Park as quick as they did. They just have a very niche but large market. But if Metallica, all be it 1st on other we here, AF had a smaller crowd it's said and tbh Muse did not have a huge crowd last time then who knows.

It's down to whether or not it's seen by both parties for them to top it on this resurgence they've had.

I didn't think much of it on first listen but it's a real grower. Now I think it ranks up there with after Brown, Insides, Snivilisation, Green and Middle of Nowhere. Definitely loads better than The Altogether which is there only album I don't rate, although it does have some good tracks on it.

The Altogether was really, really bad.  The kind of music they would reject for playing in the background in Gardeners World for not being edgy enough.

I'm confident enough to bet everyone a cider if it's true, but I can't see The Cure headlining. Not the main stage, anyway. Perhaps a sub?

FRI: Arctic Monkeys / Liam Gallagher

SAT: Kendrick Lamar / Stormzy

SUN: Macca / The Cure?

As a sub it feels even less likely than as headliner. As said, The Other could fit nicely. It just feels weird in every way. With a new, succesful album it could make sense. Or after a 10 year hiatus maybe.

Who was it who was betting ciders last time? Was it you again, Kalifire?

But I'll take that bet all day, there's absolutely no way they are not headlining if they are playing.

I absolutely think The Cure will headline Pyramid, but just to play devil's advocate Smashing Pumpkins subbed Other in 2013 didn't they? And they're selling out arenas. Granted they'd been away for a while, but surely that would merit the headline slot even more so.

This is my feeling, as much as I'd like to see a woman up there somewhere.

I would have put a female artist in the Saturday slot but couldn't really think of one who's active and big enough, Florence if she didn't headline in 2015.

And to all the people who are sceptical about The Cure headlining, please explain to me how The Who headlining in 2015 was any different, both been around for ages and not released a "classic" album in ages also.

Friday - The 1975 (  no bookers gonna turn em down  , well apart from Bloodstock )

Saturday - The National ( I think they came over in 2017 on a promise for 2019 )

Sunday - Kylie ( I reckon rumours are right )

I agree. I can't see them booking Madonna and Macca.

I think Kylie will play, but she won't headline.

By far and away the most ticket balances unpaid in April if something possessed them to book those headliners. Not happening. The National headlining on the back of no new material and an underattended sub spot at the last festival

Not a massive fan of The Who and that set didn't live long in the memory but they have some of the very best-known songs of all time and have sold over 100 million records. The Cure, with all due respect, are not even close to being in the same tier.

The National are nowhere near headlining the Pyramid and have already subbed touring their latest album. I imagine they came over in 2017 because Glasto wasn't on in 2018 and the chance to sub the Pyramid was incentive enough to come over for a one off - even though they fucked it by playing a set full of unreleased material.

Also the Kylie rumours are for the legends' slot.

It's not. That's the issue. That Who set isn't exactly remembered fondly.

    • We head out in the morning. Couple of nights in New York then up to Boston. Enjoy the games lads and hopefully we get some great football to take our minds off the whole shitshow off the pitch.
    • White Stripes/QotSA at Harewood 2007, Tramlines (and Blue Dot, same weekend) in '23, and Elbow at Jodrell Bank '13.
    • Yeah exactly, the shock moments, group layouts, etc all end up playing out differently once you get into the tournament. However you tweak it, you don't predict shocks.
