zero000
Sampha album is really nice stuff. Could see him slotting in on the Park lineup somewhere.

It's not doing it for me, sadly. Was looking forward to it as he's had some really good features last year and I liked the singles I'd heard but it never really excited me. 1 hour ago, Quark said: Gave Japandroids a go on Friday, loving that one having never listened to them before. Check out their first two albums. They're roundly more loved than Near to the Wild... though it isn't bad after allowing it to grow on me. The previous ones were instant belters though. I know your tastes well enough now Quark that I feel you should check these guys' album out. It's a little bit too long but seeing as you like White Lies and Sundara Karma you should get a kick out of it.

mungo57
the song itself isn't new but it's off her new album out last week. Ninet Tayeb - I got into her as she guested on Steven Wilson's last album. Apparently she's massive in Israel. This album is notably more heavy or rocky than her previous output (she's been Wilsoned) but still shows bits of her former sound/a bit of a Jewish folk element thrown in. Good stuff. Would love her to be at Glasto - can only really think of WH for her to play though
big__phil
I'm going to upgrade my early review of Sampha's record from 'dreadful' to 'average'. It's got Other Stage written all over it. I think he'll probably do pretty well off it. Julie Byrne has only had one play from me so far, but it was good. Will be getting plenty more. Somebody mentioned in the comments that it sounds like Avenged Sevenfold and now that's all I can hear. Sounds a lot like Avenged and its all I can hear now too. Its alright, just not Mastodon, Sultan's Curse is miles better.

FrankieX
I've really enjoyed Ten Fe's album, particularly Twist Your Arm. I'm also looking forward to Lupe Fiasco's new album Drogas Light, coming out this Friday...

st dan
Just listening to the 'Cabbage' album, and it ain't actually half bad you know! I wasn't expecting too much, and I doubt it will get much love on here, but it's actually a pretty solid debut. Some catchy songs and punchy riffs on there, and lots of it sounds very Libertines-y to me, which can never be a bad thing for me! Badlands
Having been away for a fortnight, I’ve been catching up on some recommendation on here. Loyle Corners album is canny, though that Isle of Arran track suffers from having its sample used too recently by Dre on All Falls Back on Me. Gonna have a listen to Sampha a bit more as was impressed by what I heard. Unsure if that Foxygen album is great or atrocious. I know nothing about their back catalogue, are they that odd normally?

I was in the same place with the Foxygen album. After a few listens it has really grown on me I have to say! I think it's just so different to most stuff that it almost sounds like a novelty record at first pass, but it's a grower
dentalplan
I've only just found out about it but Philly rockers Sheer Mag have recently remastered and repackaged their three outstanding EP's onto a new compilation - imaginatively titled 'Compilation' - with possibly the sole intention of being eligible for this thread. Check 'em out, it's good shit. Edited February 8, 2017 by dentalplan
