Not worried about the mud really. I think what matters more is the actual weather we get on the weekend.

As far as I can recall, all of the worst years for mud of the 30 I've been going have been when there's been a lot of rain beforehand.

We had a ridiculously dry April and May though, the water will be standing and the ground won't be as saturated as people may think. 2 days of cloud and sun will dry it out. it's not just the last 2 weeks that count

So how does this run up compare with 1997?? That was caused by a very wet run up followed by rain through Thursday. Only 1998 and 2007 have been harder to live with...

Am packing for heavy going.

this is the problem with the SW - too much rain and too many hills. Sod longleat - Eavis should come over here to the fens -even though we've had loads of rain this week the ground is already bone dry again!

GFS 12z was hot. Not an outlier as such, 30-40% went hot and the rest were cooler generally but decent weather. UKMO at +144 was warm looking. 

Waiting for the ECMWF now! 

My thoughts are the same as this morning - Wednesday and Thursday look good with warm sunshine possible

Yep just had a look at the charts, I think it is improving. Certainly temps look better than yesterday, hot even, but there's still potential for a lot of rain Wed/Thurs.
