Just look how wet the roads are on the far side of the Pyramid. Scary stuff. We're in trouble.

I know, might have to camp somewhere else this year if all the roads are like that. Maybe I'll try one of the fields...

I honestly just want a dry time for Wed am for getting the tent up - doing it whilst getting soaked and all your stuff getting soaked is a pain  - anything after that is fine as booze and others quickly make you forget.

Ps Handy tip for the rain - make pre rolls and put them in an empty berocca tube, keeps them dry and stops them getting bent. I actually got stopped going into Stone roses gig at Heaton park - what's this? Oh just my vitamins. Carry on then......

I can't believe I have never thought of that. Thats a fucking excellent idea. I always preroll but use a cigarette case, end up having to either bend my Blue Peters (here's one I made earlier :p) in 2 to get them in. You then invariably lose some into the box.

I will either be using a berocca or smarties tube this year thanks to your tip!

What's all the fuss about?

There's two competing forecasts for the festival weekend. GFS looks like this for Thursday

Netweather GFS Image

ECMWF looks like this for Thursday:

Netweather GFS Image

The issue is the trough of low pressure in the GFS chart to the West of France which is not in the ECMWF forecast. It's not especially low pressure, but it is a trough. If this doesn't appear (as in the ECMWF) then we're in the clear. If it does, then it will be wet.

You're good at this. You should teach kids.

Looks pretty good apart from the rain every day.

50% chance of 1.2mm throughout 24 hours at most.  I'm not invested in a good outcome here btw, I'll be guaranteed wall to wall sun next week whatever the weather is in Pilton.

I've found that pic of you Nal, just in case you wanted to change your profile pc.

To your credit @SteveTLizard if youve  97/98/05/07 in the locker you've earned your sunny Glasters mate.

Strangely, mates I went with in 97 tell me what a turkish the mud was. For me it up there in my top 3 ever festivals.  Weird how experiences differ depending on you circumstance.

98 however was a fookin nightmare, it rained hard constantly from Thursday, till Saturday night.  I spent 3 days in the beer tent at the bottom of Michael's Mead with 5000 other people laughing at folks falling in a hidden puddle inside the tent, good time :(

So are we looking good now then on the whole? all this technical jargon is confusing

Could go either way. I'd trust the Met Office/BBC (same thing) more than anyone else and they have it dry. The GFS (US met office) have it very wet, but they've got a new run starting to appear and it's looking better (only goes to Tuesday so far, but we'll have the whole thing soon)

Bin bags are your friends.  Cover as much as possible whilst walking in, then stick it all in bin liners to keep dry whilst putting up the tent - sorted.

Get yourself a decent waterproof rucksack cover, that way if it's p'ing it down when you're pitching at least your stuff'll be dry once you're inside your tent.

    • We head out in the morning. Couple of nights in New York then up to Boston. Enjoy the games lads and hopefully we get some great football to take our minds off the whole shitshow off the pitch.
    • White Stripes/QotSA at Harewood 2007, Tramlines (and Blue Dot, same weekend) in '23, and Elbow at Jodrell Bank '13.
    • Yeah exactly, the shock moments, group layouts, etc all end up playing out differently once you get into the tournament. However you tweak it, you don't predict shocks.
