Despite gaining a bit of a (justified) reputation for being super planned for the festival, part of the joy for me is NO media contact, social or otherwise, for five precious days. Last year, all I heard about was the Circa Waves slot in BBC Introducing, and that was a text or word of mouth. I will have NO network connection again this year and am really happy about that. If that means I 'miss' something, be it RH or otherwise, then so be it. As I've said many times - was I having fun somewhere when I 'missed' X? If the answer is yes, then that's what the festival wanted for me.

Ben

spot on attitude, Ben.

If you have festival regrets, you're doing it wrong. :D

The dream....

They headline the Other stage vs Coldplay

It wont happen, but it's the dream

The dream is that and Coldplay walk out to a one fifth full field of seated picnic blanket dwellers and clapping that sounded like one bloke trying to get the last ketchup out of the bottle.

Chris Martin:

"HELLOOOOO GLASTONBURY!!!!!!"

Crowd:

"Alright"

Chris Martin:

"TURN OFF THE LIGHTS! I WANNA SEE YOU ALL...oh"

Crowd:

"Can you play the Game of Thrones song and the one Bowie hated?"

Do we think Floating Points is saturday? I as long as he isnt clashing with Radiohead, Beck or ZZ Top - Im there.

For whatever reason, the money had him/them subbing James Blake on WH. I don't think there is anything to suggest that specifically, other than a certain logic. As I said before, having Roundhouse tickets, and loving that kind of electronica SO much, I would, at this point, choose FloPo in a RH clash. Sometimes you just gotta plough your own furrow!

I could see a sunset FloPo set with me a little, ahem, worse for wear, as one of the abiding musical memories for me.

Exactly. I put my phone in a lock up and use it once or twice (if that). Its really only taken on the very very unlikely event that I need to contact anyone in the outside world in case of absolute emergency.

I have missed alsorts, but my favourite festival moments are often the unplanned

This utopia suggests that you never get dragged by a mate to see something that you wind up hating and you only went cause the clashfinder was threadbare at that point.

In 2010 I was battered, by the sun and too much other stuff.. all my mates wanted to see the Gorilliaz. I wanted to see the Flaming Lips.

In my fucked state I watched the Gorillaz.

Ive never let anyone convince me to go somewhere else at a festival since.

Just made time for my first listen - enjoyed it enough, but I know need to have a good lie down and properly soak it up. Jonny's increased involvement is great. Had 45 pages of unread on this thread so haven't read beyond the last 2 pages, but I hope everyone's happy with it!

Time for number 2

I know I'm a bit late to this but I've spent a bit of time getting the right order, so here's my list

  1. OK Computer
  2. The Bends
  3. Kid A
  4. A Moon Shaped Pool
  5. In Rainbows
  6. Amnesiac
  7. Hail To The Thief
  8. The King Of Limbs
  9. Pablo Honey

I must be the only one who sort of agrees with this list. If anything I'd have Hail to the Thief lower below King of Limbs, I don't get the love for that album at all.

I want to do a list, but I feel like I need a proper listen to each album back-to-back again, make some footnotes, deliberate for a day or two, then get back to you with an informed decision.

All I know is that Pablo Honey is #9.

Dunno whether to pre-order that vinyl now (I don't reaaaaally have the money) or wait and see if Rough Trade Notts get some copies in...

'E 'oo dares wins, Rodney...

(I have no idea if you're even vaguely old enough to get that reference, Matt!)

You don't need to be a certain age to get Only Fools references do you?!

I'm confident my three teenagers would struggle...

I don't think there's been a night in my life on which neither Only Fools and Horses nor Fawlty Towers have been on TV in our lounge.

Well, that may be a slight exaggeration, but it's pretty much the case.

Then it changes to Friends / How I Met Your Mother / Disney HD when you cohabit with a woman and / or have a teenage daughter / numerous daughters.*

I've tried, people, Lord I've tried:

"But BLACKADDER is on!"

*I generalise of course.

    • It would be piss-easy for a bot to manage, though.
    • I've heard that ticket sales for other events that use the same system have included the question 'are you still there?' on each window/browser you have with a place in the queue. If you don't confirm you are, it'll assume you're not and that place will drop.   I've no idea if Glasto/See will adopt this, but it would be challenging to keep on top of with many windows open.
    • People who're struggling are already priced out, so I don't think a bump in price will affect who attends. There'll still be a cross section, leaning young. I also think they'll do a soft breaking of the £400 ceiling, keeping the ticket price just below but having postage take it over. Next year the ticket itself will be over that threshold.
