Radiohead touring in 2016

Daydreamer is a beautiful track! Really looking forward to the album. I was also worried they would continue down TKOL route. I'm glad they haven't. I love the strings. Can see this working well.

I enjoyed Daydreamer about 5X more on my second listen. It's a strange song to release as a single, but it's so beautiful and haunting.

Sounds to me like he played more on Burn The Witch than on all of TKOL.

I think Burn the Witch has mega drums. My favourite aspect of the song actually.

I mean Radiohead are my favourite band and I'm so excited for the new album, but I felt like Burn The Witch was lacking something, and Daydreaming would be a filler track (as filler track as Radiohead tracks go - still good songs) on any of their better albums. Just re-listened to Spectre for the first time in ages and much prefer it to either track.

Still excited for the album, and the new songs are good (better than TKOL stuff), but I hope we aren't currently hearing the best of it.

Anyway, only two days until we find out!

I wasn't sure. Electronic percussion is certainly introduced later on in the song, but the live drums are probably still in the mix.

While it's a very good music video, I found myself much preferring the song second time round with just the audio. I think it's a perfect stop what you're doing and just listen kind of track to really let it sink in.

 

Either that or it was an extremely quick grower!

So reading this thread (and I watched Radiohead on in rainbows tour. Still love the album.) Are even Radiohead superfans kind of saying k.o.l is pants? Expecting to be flamed now. New single burn the witch is fab though.

Go to their subreddit where the real hardcore fans are, they mostly think TKOL is an unique masterpiece and everyone else 'can't comprehend it's complexity' (that's an actualy quote from there) or something. But yeah, the majority of the not-blinded fanbase recognizes TKOL to be very underwhelming.

not pants.. just disappointing, and never really made the impact of their previous albums even after all this time. probably my second least favourite of their albums after Pablo Honey. some great songs on their (especially the final three songs) but overall just not that great of an album

Ah.thanks for the replies. Always thought it was either something I was missing or emperors new clothes syndrome (which I am kind of guilty of with the who so I understand ).

Probably. Tbh I've only listened to each song a couple of times as I don't wanna overplay them before the album hits so I hope they're growers.

I'm not a fan of TKOL. Tried so many times to get into it but it's just meh. I like Little by Little and Lotus Flower, but that's about it. I appreciate they tried to do something different, but it wasn't for me. 

The 3 new songs including Spectre have all been miles better.

I think both of them are growers tbh, Daydreaming particularly. Wasn't blown away by it on first listen but after listening to it quite a lot tonight it's really grown on me, fantastic song.

KOL was a bit underwhelming on record but was great live. It gave the gigs from that tour a certain energy that will be missed a bit this time, especially with Clive on extra drums.

But that said I think these new songs will be incredible live and are better songs on record so far. This is the first weekend in a while that I've wanted to wish away time wise!
