Pendulum subbed at Glasto the year after R&L, didn't they? Also headlined the second stage at T in the same year that they had The Strokes and Deadmau5. I'd say that was a pretty decent step up.

Deftones just been announced for their first European festival of next summer. Super Bock Super Rock in mid-July so still some way away but it'd make sense for them to do late-summer fests next year. Due a return.

Deftones NME headliner set would be killer. I just finished listening to Run The Jewels 3, those dudes need an NME headline slot too.

It would be cool to see Deftones playing to their own crowd rather than people waiting for what's next but going off who you'd expect the three headliners to draw in, Deftones wouldn't be gathering much of a crowd at all.

Muse > Royal Blood> Deftones > At the Drive In

judging by who's playing and who could be playing i could see this as a potential top 4 on the Muse day, although ATDI and Deftones back to back seems too good to actually happen

That would be really really strong for me. Royal Blood would probably be underwhelming after those two preceding them mind.

Flume would easily headline NME. 

He's popular with the target audience (Ally Pally sold out quickly and everyone there seemed to be under 20.)

He's in a similar vein to some other NME headliners e.g. deadmau5 etc.

But he's bigger than some of their closers e.g. Knife Party and Nero.

However, I've seen him live and he's distinctively average as a live prospect, despite an impressive light show. He doesn't seem to do much beyond altering the pitch every so often.

With the show he has, it would need to be dark on the main stage or in a tent. He's not going to be co-headlining yet so I'd say the only spot for him is NME headliner/closer, if he's even at R&L.

They'll play Glasto but that won't affect their other festivals. I had thought they'd be a mellower indie type booking to go against Eminem on the NME stage but that new song doesn't suggest R+L is their place at all.

Billy's ego is just gonna continue to grow but I think with the current line up he would probably take a sub slot. Doesn't mean R+L would book them - they become a less appealing prospect with R+L goers with every passing year. There's no indication of a tour this year though so I think the chances are rather low.

Unfortunately that's probably true, in a couple of years the amount of dancier take over stuff will be crazy as that's what sells.
