In previous years some of the cleverer folk in here have posted how to view archive images of the webcam by changing the times on a link to the cam site . I’ve tried to do it but . It doesn’t seem to work anymore . Any ideas  folks.

It's it just me or does the build seem to be quite a bit behind where it normally is by this time? It's not real until the fence is going up!

It's just over 7 weeks until gates open. This is normally when the build approximately starts - if anything, they're ahead.

If anything they are at about the same. The Park stage was partially up in 2017 but nothing of The Other Stage was up, so swings and roundabouts. I think there has been a fair amount going on off camera and probably a lot more things to check that have been dormant for 2 years.

minor point Woffy, the webcam is restircted in angle because of it potentially overlooking peoples houses.  Your mates drone won't be and that may cause some angst if it is seen, which it will be.

This is something that surely is only a matter of concern between Mr Eavis and his neighbours though.  Most of our houses are viewable on Google Earth, and there's apparently nothing I can do about the people who regularly come and take photos of my home. Likewise, there's not much my neighbours can do about being caught in the background of my CCTV.

If I had a drone I wouldn't be overly concerned in this instance.

Cheers matey I’ll try again tomorrow . Is it just a case of changing the once you input the time date you want is it just a case of changing the X to cam number that works ?

Pretty much yeh! Or can just change the X to 1, if that doesn't work, go to 2, then 3, etc upto 5.

Looks like The Park stage is starting to go up.
Other Stage continuing to go up.
Digger up by the toilets at the top of park / next to Glastonbury-on-Sea.
Arcadia ground works continuing.
Greepeace Field works continuing.

If the build was being carried out by the majority of main contractors that I work with, the festival wouldn't be ready until December. And it'd be £2m over budget.

December which year? ?

I work in the Rail industry and £2m over budget would be seen as a win

Does anyone know how most of the site is powered?  Is it all by generators, or are any of the stages hooked up to the grid?

Generators I believe.

A friend of mine as part of his university course (and an easy way of getting a ticket) was monitoring the output / efficiency of certain stages' generators in 2017.

I was wondering this as well, I know it cost a lot to dig and lay cable but most of that cost is to do with traffic management which won’t be required for the farm.

I would expect the payback on the cost of the fuel for the generators would make this more viable.

Would the capacity of the (you'd assume, fairly basic) electricity grid in the local area be a limiting factor?

For example I know that with water, the local infrastructure can't cope with the extra peak demand that comes at festival time and hence the festival has needed to build a dedicted reservoir on site (maybe 2 of them?).

    • The only number I can find is 90k, but it doesn't really break it down in the way you're asking so it is up in the air in that regard. My only thing here is that I don't think Leeds is in danger or is flagging in sales. I thought last year had an awful lineup so I opted out but apparently a hell of a lot of people decided to go, so I really do believe it is just us lot all being out of touch with what the modern R&L audience wants.   I do think this year has a good lineup although I know a lot of people on here disagree with that, so I am gonna be there and we shall see what it is like on the ground this year in terms of attendance.
