Are Stone Roses going to be like Daft Punk and Prince, in a lot if people want them to headline but it will never happen for various reasons. I think to be fair the Roses have more chance than the aforementioned, but it still seems like the routine pattern

It was definitely Prince, from everything I've heard. Glastonbury believed (for whatever reasons) he'd committed, and around announcement time they found out he hadn't.

If you notice, Emily is now saying she doesn't think Prince will ever play, which is a very different thing from what she was saying this time last year.

Also, from what I heard, The Who said no at the first asking, so I guess some extra efforts had to go into persuading them to change their mind.

I did notice the change in stance over Prince, very positive and hopeful, now just resigned to I doubt it will ever happen or at least doesn't think so personally.

One of the greatest potential headliners for Glastonbury may never happen, I do wonder what caused him to back out of it, the general attitude towards Kanye on the Saturday with petitions etc, some words from close trusted friends. It seems Prince does come out to do the big gigs from time to time like the Super Bowl and Coachella etc, yet something turned Glastonbury into a no thanks for him.

Who knows, really? He's so erratic anyway that even if he'd said to Glastonbury his reasons were around the anti-Kanye petition that might not really be it.

Knowing Michael is notorious for his dodgy comments towards headliners , I was wary when he said he could not talk about him at the Maunsel House evening with him but I was sure that at that point that he had been booked or was in talks , if I remember rightly this was October time

I was referring to new music, though I understand how my post was taken wrongly. Glasto I absolutely cannot see, new songs however, I'm 99% sure will happen before June .

Rihanna's Sunderland gig has been cancelled due to "logistical difficulties". Knew that ticket sales were poor earlier in the week and that this was due to happen. Be surprised if she plays Glastonbury, if she does it would surely be low down and nowhere near a headline spot.

Is that cancelled gig during the festival? I'm sure the people of the North East would love to see her pop up at GF having cancelled her own show up there

I dont know. I dont think shes any bigger than beyonce in 2011. Beyonce was subbing T that year. Dont get me wrong i think she'd more than likely be a seen as a headliner, but i could see her being billed as a sub if she was willing.

Was due to be June 18th. Rihanna's not as big as she was when she was headlining T in the Park and even that was dreadful. Having to cancel shows due to poor ticket sales doesn't scream headliner to me. Special guest with Coldplay is a good shout though.
