Oh aye, tons of pop house music is now getting traction

Had enough of it now, heard this new one on the radio by Connor Maynard which is really shit pop house by numbers. Kiesza and ones like that were good but now everyone is on the bandwagon as usual.

First post on this thread, saving myself also until i got a ticket (still shaking :D)

Not sure i understand the argument re 'mainstream' acts. Glasto is the easiest festival ever to avoid anything you dont want to see and surely has the most 'underground' or 'non-mainstream' acts around?

Considering it, but reading the thread on it today I realised I've never spoken to 90% of the people who'll be there.

50% of them wont turn up

Quoted for truth. Glastonbury is so varied that you really cannot complain.

  • 3 weeks later...

So if Neil believes the 5th is a likely time for another announcement, reckon the Who will be announced and break the whole 'June embargo' thing? I mean the cats completely out of the bag, my parents knew about it when I came home from work today, hadn't spoken to them since the article was released.

When did he say the announcement is on the 5th? Last I heard was 19th May for the full lineup without Sunday headliner

He said if it was going to be before the deadline it would be the 5th... If it was going to beyond the deadline then it would be later in May.

No he didn't, he suggested if it was going to be before that was the likely date, not that it defo was.

Lets be honest, if outside events have an effect on the announcement date then the 5th has got to be considered unlikely at this stage. Between the Royal Baby and the Election, anything else is going to get lost in the news cycle.

It could come this week, but anyone relying on it has a decent chance of being disappointed.

while I agree there's a lot in the news this week to get lost in, that doesn't necessarily rule out 5th.

The 5th looks like the only realistic date to use (to avoid getting smothered by other news) for an announcement this week, which is precisely how-come the 5th is being talked about in the first place. It's a guess, but it's a guess which puts an announcement on the best day for getting publicity.

It all depends if Glastonbury feel they need to announce anything this week (and history suggests that they think they do). If they do, 5th looks most likely.

A friend of mine told me, no idea whether there's any reliability in it. I just believed him because it seemed about right

The "seems right" date defo puts an announcement into this coming week.

As far as I'm aware, there's been no public statement made about any particular date in May. I'm not even sure if there's been a publicly-stated "sometime in May" - tho I've had that privately said to me by senior Glasto people.

Like I posted in the Shangri-La thread, Brainwash, the new area in the naughty corner told me that they're making their lineup announcement on May 11. Whether this coincides with a full Shangri-La and/or remaining lineup announcement who knows?

the early-may announcement last year didn't include the likes of Shangri-la, as far as I remember. It was a stage-by-stage breakdown for the major stages.

Probably better that way. Any more than 50 acts announced and my tiny little brain struggles to take it all in. I'm sure I've overlooked somebody from the first announcement

I love the full line-up announcement. I love it more than the initial poster because it means I can actually plan and decide and come to terms with the clashes. It's when those five days take some kind of shape.

Heh, yep, knowing that in fact 95% of the careful planning will inevitably be complete fiction in the end, happily

Pretty excited for the possibilities of this next announcement. If we're not getting Blur at least give us The Antlers, come on guys. ;)

This. A Lot.

We really want The Antlers. They seem to be announced for another festival every week. I'd be gutted if GF turned out to be the one they don't play this summer.

Also, Latitude announced A Winged Victory For The Sullen this week. They'd be incredible too. Would be lovely in the dark at the Park, but that wouldn't happen, I know. Acoustic tent?
