I've not listened to them so have no fact based opinion, but I get the impression that I really won't like Catfish and The Bottlemen. I really should listen to them and form a real opinion I suppose.

i thought the same before i listened to them, but i actually quite like them. not revolutionary or anything but catchy enough.

if you don't like these 2 tracks then probably not point investigating any further:

yes, i am.

you said it's very alternative and not much mainstream.

all those acts are extremely mainstream and well-known.

Not the genre I'm talking about.

Thinking the likes of (and this is just genre specific rather than bands I'd all watch) The Cribs, Everything Everything, The Charlatans, The Wombats, Brandon Flowers, Kodaline, Prides, Coasts, Ash, Palma Violets, Johnny Marr, Paul Weller, Black Rivers, Django Django.

Obviously we'll get quite a few of these in the final line-up.

well then you should tell us what genre you're talking about as your post didn't specify any:

There's not a huge amount on there to my personal taste - so it depends on your taste, doesn't it? I'd say this first announcement is very "alternative" in the sense there is not a lot of mainstream acts down the card. Plenty of acts who are critically acclaimed etc, but not the type of band people in general have heard of.

That's not a criticism of the line up as it is as there's double still to come and I know there will be plenty for me. But I see that as the reason why some may be a bit underwhelmed.

yes, to avoid repeating the 2 acts already mentioned.

you said the announcement was very alternative and not mainstream.

i highlighted several mainstream acts for you.

Nope, I said to my tastes, and then you listed acts from every genre imaginable. (including George Ezra when I specifically said "not the Ben Howards of this world")

I accept that you to can't second guess what my tastes are - but anyone with those tastes this line-up *so far* is not something to shout from the rooftops.

Good grief, and all that shit I get for liking the Vaccines? The world is a strange and mysterious place.

Edited to say, that's not a pop at you, ghostdancer, more bewilderment that Catfish and the Battlement are seen as more credible than the Vaccines by the majority of people on here.

right, so again, you failed to specify, and just mentioned "alternative" and "mainstream".

there's a list of some mainstream, non-"alternative" acts.

if you want to specify what exactly your tastes are within that incredibly wide net, then that would be more helpful next time.

Don't you "the majority of people" me! The Vaccines may be dull, but they're not as obnoxious as Catfish and the Bottlemen.

Apologies.

Also, I've just been watching Jools Holland. Give me the rageddyarse blur and vaccines over the rest of the tasteful grown-up shit that's on there.

I think it's just that more people on here have heard the Vaccines than Catfish & the Bottlemen. You only have to look at the 'one to avoid' thread to see some of the criticism Catfish get.

There is a WHOLE list of bands in an earlier post from an hour ago!

They are such a good band, sold out shepards bush emipre and brixton academy twice.

True makings of a great band, no other act of poor quality has ever managed this great feat! Truly a great band of these times!

Nah don't worry, Catfish get a decent amount (and more deserved than the Vaccines) of vitriol aimed at them!

We're delighted to be returning to play Glastonbury Festival this coming June! A more detailed line up will follow later this month, but here are just some of the amazing artists you'll find at this year's festival.

Belle & Sebastian on Facebook yesterday said this, could this mean the full poster could be with us later this month? seems a bit soon, doesn't it?

They're all *really* mainstream acts! What point are you trying to make?
