It would be a complete shame to have Caribou playing in the daylight, which they would if they subbed WH, I am starting to think Caribou might not be there, which is an equally sad thought

I think he'll be there, would be strange if he wasn't given he tweeted someone on here hinting that he was playing.

I hadn't really thought of that. you're right though, it would be a real shame if Caribou played in the light or indeed if he/they weren't there at all.

It's a shame that a few of the stages don't have a later finishing time to allow for more of these sort of acts.

Rudimentary headlining the Other should be more controversial a topic then Blur or even Flo headlining the Pyramid. One fairly popular album cannot make them a viable option as an Other stage headliner surely? I can see getting them back as sub headliners to make up for last year but anything more than that is a waste of a booking.

Ben Howard is another questionable booking as an Other headliner but slightly more understandable then Rudimental. Chems are a tired booking.

Considering Other stage headliners in past years have included, QOTSA, Bjork, Pet Shop Boys, (a reformed) Orbital, Massive Attack and Portishead then the 3 rumoured acts are very poor in comparison. Hell, even Smashing Pumpkins and Pixies are better options and they only managed to sub!

Btw, I saw Chems headline in 2011 and they were excellent. I just think they seem to be there every few years and so there's little 'wow' factor when seeing their name linked to the lineup once again.

Agree with all that. They would be a really poor set of headliners on that stage.

Are all the Park headliners fairly well known now? I'd have thought that would be the obvious position for Caribou

I think Catfish being big enough for JP headliner is a difficult one, especially when you look at last year's JP headliners; I wouldn't say they're as big as Kaiser Chiefs or MGMT, but I do think they're just as big as London Grammar, possibly even a little bigger. Of course it's always difficult to define what 'big' is, as well.

Apparently they said it at one of their gigs.

I can see it happening, I'd say they're big enough now.

I completely underestimated how big they were. Wouldn't be a fan but can see why people like them

I think that Van McCann fella is the next Pete Doherty waiting to happen

I kind of pictured them having a Royal Blood or Bastille style massive turnout to an earlier-in-the-day set, rather than jumping up to headliner.

They're subbing the Radio 1/NME tent at R&L and I'd guess they'd take a similar position at TITP so I don't think headlining John Peel is out of the question.

They sold out their tour last month which was mainly academies or venues of that size as well.

Not that I know of... I think people are questioning the rationale of putting Caribou against Hot Chip on the Friday night as there would be a decent amount of crossover and suggesting the subbing scenario as an alternative.

Having said that, that's probably more wishful thinking and judging by the hip hop clashes of 2014 it doesn't look like stages are planned in that way any how.

Also re: Beck, I think he'll sub the Pyramid. Playing that sort of length slot at Hyde Park, just think it makes sense as well.

Beck would definitely suit being one or two under a pyramid headliner, Could see him sub foo fighters and Kanye with Flo/foals

Was there a clue in the EE interview (from March) that was posted on Twitter earlier? It was said that any big bands coming to the UK around that time would announce their own dates first before the festival does so it doesn't affect their ticket sales. As the festival is sold out anyway it wouldn't have an impact....... Or have I just read way too much into this?

That's a good point actually! Tenuously speaking, maybe Hot Chip/Caribou would be seen as coups for WH/Park respectively and they're trying to break up the crowd a little bit? I at least think Hot Chip will get a big crowd on WH...

Under Kanye would be a fantastic booking based on the Grammys

Yeah there doesn't seem to be much logic to the sub/headliner combinations so I wouldn't be surprised if he was under either Foos/Kanye/TBC.

I think it's all still up in the air. Neil's info contained a lot of 'apparently', 'couldn't hear for the noise', 'someone said' etc., and all the acts we're talking ourselves into thinking won't be there are still rumoured. Nobody has been elevated to a strong rumour yet.

It could well be Prince. It could well be Fleetwood Mac ('Michael sad it wasn't' hardly holds much weight). It could be Blur. It could be Madonna. It could be Swift. It could be Bowie. It could be Ainsley Harriott on a fucking pogo stick. Everything is in play.

    • It can take around 30-45 mins to walk from the arena back to the transport hub with the crowds, depending on density. Allow even longer in poor conditions. I don't think you'd need to leave Linkin Park early though, you have at least an hour and 20 minutes to walk to transportation. I certainly wouldn't leave early in your shoes, knowing I can just walk to the airport if needs be (2 mile walk and another 30 - 45 min walk depending on your walking speed and conditions.) Maybe just don't linger too long for the toilet / food after Linkin Park have finished.  It will definitely make sense and all just fall into place on the night, don't worry too much and have a great time. The very worst that can happen is a little extra walking to the Airport Skylink bus stop, as those Skylink busses are 100% 24 hour. 🙂  GFS, ICON and ECMWF are ALL in agreement on the latest runs.... After a mildly moist Weds and Thurs, high Pressure building from Friday... Lets just hope they continue to agree... ☀️☀️☀️
