I think Catfish being big enough for JP headliner is a difficult one, especially when you look at last year's JP headliners; I wouldn't say they're as big as Kaiser Chiefs or MGMT, but I do think they're just as big as London Grammar, possibly even a little bigger. Of course it's always difficult to define what 'big' is, as well.

i'd have thought they're on par with MGMT these days, if not bigger?

CATB sold out 2 nights at Brixton Academy recently, the first within an hour, the 2nd in a few days.

last time MGMT were in the UK they were playing 1 night in venues smaller than Brixton...

Not that I know of... I think people are questioning the rationale of putting Caribou against Hot Chip on the Friday night as there would be a decent amount of crossover and suggesting the subbing scenario as an alternative.

Having said that, that's probably more wishful thinking and judging by the hip hop clashes of 2014 it doesn't look like stages are planned in that way any how.

Fuck me saturday night would be a bitch if that clash happened - would have no idea who to see (hot chip or caribou) - both two of my favourite "dancey" type acts. Would probably just see what mates are thinking on the day, obviously unless they were going to foos or some shit other headliner.

Fuck fuck that would be a shit clash.

What if Beck is the 'solo artist' with a band...someone who has got shows to sell first and the festival might even been after him for a while.

I know that the general consessus is, that he's only big enough to sub...but having two strong(ish) headliners already, could they take a bit of a risk with the third one?!

Err no .... This years risk is Kanye.

Pretty sure the 'solo artist with a band' comment has been thrown out the window as of last night, where it's been said that they've had to sign a back up headlienr.

Fleetwood Mac or Prince on the Pyramid, Blur on the Other Stage makes more sense to me

That's not the first time you've suggested blur for the other stage. I ignored it the first time but can't let it go...... Really? In what parallel universe do blur play the second stage at Glastonbury? Nope.

Glorious return of Pulp? Absolutely no basis, just pure longing for some Cocker and company goodness.

Though, as you say there's no basis, given pretty much every band big enough under the sun have been mentioned for headliner, I did wonder why I hadn't seen anyone bring these up. The Cure also.

I think it's more a question of why MGMT were headlining JP to be honest. They are long since been a big act - hence the size of gigs they now play in the UK.

The album they released in the run up to Glasto (it was released the previous September) only charted at No. 45 - that's the only week the album ever spent in the album chart. Can hardly have sold any copies

The risk being the size of the act, not how controversial he is...after all the anti-Kanye anger waves who could be more the opposite of him if not Beck?!

I know that not to many people thinks he could/should headline, but seen worse things talked about here before...

The `solo artist with a band` story started a week or so ago, and Neil had info that the final headliner was signed last week...not sure why can`t both be true...

Yea, a lot of people thought MGMT were an odd booking that year. We're they bumped up after someone dropped out? Not sure but it was strange.

JP tent was still full for them though, couldn't get in. Probably due in part to being up against Metallica and Jake Bugg, but that slot seemed right for them. Their older albums' popularity definitely made up for how little anyone cared about the most recent one.

Fair enough if the tent was full but like you say, may have been influenced by the other acts on at the same time. Glastonbury rarely get it wrong to be fair.

Does anyone think Lenny Kravitz may make an appearance on the Sunday? Headlining Werchter on the Saturday and playing some Dutch festival on the Friday or vice-versa...

Saw him a few years ago at V and he was one of my biggest festival disappointments tbh :(

well Neil also had info that all 3 headliners were signed ages ago, so basically who knows what is actually true or not anymore...
