I've had it on repeat at work all day, and I'm seriously impressed! Some great stuff on there from the moody, floaty tunes they do so well to the singalong feel of Lonesome Street and Ong Ong which would be great live. I loved 2009 and have been in two minds about whether another headline set would dilute the memory of what is possibly the best time I've ever had at a gig. I'm now firmly convinced that the new stuff would give it another dimension, so rather than being a nostalgic celebration like 09 was, it would be a great set from a band that are obviously back on form and really enjoying writing and playing together again. Bring it on!

Yeah. Intereresting insight in to how the album came about too. Basically, Damon had some songs, they all messed about in the studio with them for a few days and then Graham put an album together with the bits that were recorded.

i had read that Graham put it together. Apparently Albarn said the sessions were no good at one point.

Just gave it my first listen this morning on spotify a few stand out tracks 'ong ong', 'I broadcast' and 'My terracotta heart'. Will be purchasing on vinyl come pay day on Thursday for sure when I can give it a real listen.

Anyone hear Shaun Keavany just then? Played Lonesome Street and then said: "And hopefully I'll get to see the boys when they play............................ uhhh....... Hyde Park....."

ooooooooooo

Perhaps he thought BST was somewhere else?

Although I won't deny that I am hoping now I have heard the album

Where did the tour rumours come from? Would have thought a UK tour would be unlikely this year as they are playing Hyde park?

They said that they'd do a few warm up dates before Hyde Park in Scotland & Wales but that's about it. I'd be shocked if they played big venues this summer, but suppose a few arena dates at the end of the year isn't out of the question.

    • Tell me more. Last Latitude we went to was '21 - my son was young & had a wagon so we snuck good beers in that way. I remember there being some Brooklyn IPA on sale which was tolerable - are you saying they don't sell anything other than Carlsberg now?! 😳
    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
