Ellie Goulding?

Haha :P wanted to see who'd pick that up first

her second album did massive things for her, I don't think it's likely but she has a new album out at the end of the year and her fanbase has increased dramatically... it'l be interesting to see how much her new album propels her :P

I'm not too sure it will though and even if it did headlining Glasto seems really far fetched

Even if her new album does really well I can't see her being higher than subbing.

Wot lightning sed.

Sabbath – Tool – Biffy

After hearing Andy on the Jasta podcast he definitely thinks Tool are still a headliner & I’d be confident that no other UK major fests would give them the same spot. Biffy are a Download favourite (most booked band along with Korn) & will be a new headliner plus have a new album. Sabbath makes sense.

Unless BMTH’s next album is vastly different I can’t see them headlining as they’re simply too divisive.

Some people got all worked up because they played Wembley (didn’t sell it out, tickets were on sale for a year!) but there’s a world of difference between nearly selling a 12k seater arena & headlining a major festival. Plus, I didn’t read anybody clamouring for a headline set after their performance last year.

They are resells so technically sold more than the capacity if some tickets sold twice...

Either you've reached a whole new level of dry sarcasm or this is one of the more batshit insane defences of a statement made on these forums. Edited by theevilfridge

Hey guys, noob here. Been lurking on the forum for a couple of months now.

Going to my first Download this year, mostly because I've been waiting years for Muse to headline - they'll surprise a lot of people.

That 2016 poster almost seems too good to be true in my opinion, although I can understand why each of the headliners are there.

My personal guesses would be Biffy Clyro, Black Sabbath and Paramore. Biffy will have a new record out, and Andy has claimed they will only headline if they have one more amazing album, so we'll see how that goes. Sabbath haven't played there since 13 was released, so there might be scope for that, and Andy has been bigging up Paramore so much, putting them in the new batch of headliners and they will definitely expand the horizons of the festival more.

If those were the headliners, I wouldn't be disappointed, but I'd definitely say it's a risk giving two new headliners a chance, who are maybe a little controversial in choice as they aren't really metal acts. Black Sabbath would definitely be a popular choice though.
