Aren't Imagine Dragons bigger than both Foals and Disclosure? They had bigger tour if I remember correctly

but Foals and Disclosure both have the plus points of being homegrown acts who have worked their way up the festival lineups, rather than Imagine Dragons who are an American act who seemed to jump into superstardom, so yeah Imagine Dragons may be 'bigger' (or probably about the same) but to a UK festival crowd, Foals and Disclosure make more sense topping the bill

"Superstardom" - I know nothing about them and have never heard their songs. Superstardom definition seems to have changed!

maybe superstardom was a bit of a jump, but they got pretty damn popular pretty fast a few years ago when that Radioactive song came out, and their latest album got to number one (previous got to number two)

I will have to Spotify that song and see if I know it. I guess if it has been on an advert or something then I may have heard it!

Seeing as I've only heard of 4 of the bands announced today I think it's time to hang up my Reading Festival boots, maybe a day ticket if they're still doing the lock up stage but they've probably scrapped that for more radio 1 dance shite. This festival used to be so great.

It's seen better days mate. It's seen better days ...

Had a dream last night that SOTD were announced. If only... Jack U would be so terrible. His biggest song has Justin Bieber in it ffs. Leaning towards a day ticket on RHCP day if the next announcements this bad.

Jack U is a huge booking, probably not to everyone's preference but will attract crowds. It's a combination Diplo (part of Major Lazer who produced the most streamed song of all time) and Skrillex.

I personally will not be buying a weekend ticket for the first time in 5 years. Will have to be Biffy, Green Day or Muse for me to buy a day ticket for the final headliner...

Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus etc would draw huge crowds, doesn't mean they should be booked. Tbf I don't mind if they make these kind of bookings as long as they supplement them with good rock/metal bookings but so far they really haven't done that

I know its not the most reliable sample size in the world but I had a look at the trending 'Reading and Leeds hashtag' on Twitter after the first announcement and then another look today. The R.H.C.P announcement was probably a solid 65-70% positive feedback, however today seems to be something more in the region of 5-10% positive and 90-95% strongly negative. Even though the Foals/Disclosure booking was likely a cheap option, it seems there is a really good chance it will come back to bite them in terms of both ticket sales and also the lasting legacy of the Festival. For example I saw several people making comments that Reading is slowly turning into V Festival :sorry::unsure:
