Hello H.M.V,

I think we might well have been close by. I met an efester called Simon ( I can't remember his efests name) who said he'd bumped into you - I can't remember whether it was the Wednesday night or the Thursday night. Anyway, he said you were completely langered and not making much sense! lol He also told us that we were in the middle of Camp Ralph. I had no idea what this was until after the festival as I hadn't read any of the thread where that was organised. Hope you had a blast.

Camped in Big Ground for the first time. My other 3 times I have camped in Oxlyers.

Pros

Fairly Quiet

Close to clean flush toilets

Close to Pyramid Stage

Little mud

Cons

That bloody hill to get up to our tent every night/morning

Sleeping on a hill is a strange experience especially when waking from strange dreams

I would definitely camp there again, I walked passed Oxylers on the Friday for Blondie and it looked like total chaos.

Very bottom of Park Home

Never back before Arcadia finished so no trouble sleeping. Close to compost toilets just over the track and had plenty of space to sit in between our two big tents. Didn't speak to our neighbours until the Sunday when they gave us a much appreciated sack of wine! Property lock up about 20 metres from us which is always handy.

Didn't have any cons to be honest bar the water point being a little further way than we'd hoped for. 10l water carrier made things easier though.

We used to camp in Park Home Ground, but had to find a new spot this year because of the Arcadia move. We chose Baileys.

Good spot. Not too loud at night, toilets in good condition. Only issue was a couple of thefts (my small rucksack went walkies, thankfully with only a jumper in it, and a couple of our camping chairs got robbed. Chair thefts seem to happen to us quite a lot at Glastonbury!). Would camp there again.

The Rivermead, in a little sliver of field by the bridge to Silver Hayes. Pros were that it was its only little semi-private enclave with 20 or so tents. Right by a water point. 1 minute walk to music at 'The Blues'. Good compromise between all of the stages in walk time. Not too much noise from trucks going by on the track the other side of the green fence. Cons being lack of loos, noise bleed from Silver Hayes at night.

Bushy Ground:

Great access to Silver Hayes, JP and Other - listened to Kaiser Chiefs from the tent. Quick and easy to get to from gate A if arriving by coach. Enough space to set up camp for 8 on Thursday afternoon. Busy enough to feel a part of the festival, yet still quiet on a night. Compost loos were mess free throughout. Relatively flat area- slight incline in case of rain.

Slight smell of cow manure. Long queues for toilets. Long walk back from Naughty Corner. Slippery entrance to the site from Silver Hayes when muddy.

Very much enjoyed both stays at Bushy - it now feels like home! Will happily stay there again, especially if arriving by coach or on the Thursday. Otherwise will be tempted to camp closer to the SE corner/Park just to have a different experience.

Pennards up at the top by the lock up, pitched at 10am.

Pros

- plenty of room when we arrived, enough for our three tents and many more.

- close to composting toilets and water points both in Pennards and Stone Circle field

- Very handy for the lock ups

- In the thick of the action

- on a pleasant slope to ward off any rainfall

- a slight shading of early morning sun

- gravely stony path meant no mud slippage on way down to tracks

- very close to the Park

Cons (mostly just nitpicking)

- noisy, but nothing earplugs couldn't handle

- very loud and fumy ice cream van

- lots of foot traffic going past (obviously my own fault for choice of pitch, again, not a huge deal)

- Danny in the young group next door getting destroyed by Ketamine and going on a rampage at 7am one morning

- near constant hiss of balloons (all over site, but it's a grievance)

If I can't scrape the pennies together for a tipi next year, I'll definitely pitch here again. An excellent spot.

Dairy, bottom right just past the hedge. We've camped in Dairy for years. This year we were worried that we were too close to the drops just above the hedge. But the field looked full at 11.00. As it happened it was great.

Pros,

Loos were close, but not too close. Never used my Lenor bottle lol. Could see when there was a nice space.

Quiet, no mad music people with sound systems. Arcadia was audible, but ok. Had a campsite fire every night.

Cons

None really.

South Park

Camped near a mixed range of people, one group in their mid 40's some 20 yr olds who had an interesting breakfast menu think Couscous or cracker bread with peanut butter, then a group of 30 yr olds who we meet up with a few times.

Only down sides where on a hill so felt like I was falling of my air bed all weekend, queue for the toilets in the morning and seemed a mission to return to at night....

It was the only spot of grass we could find come 4pm ish Wednesday afternoon! I think I would camp in South Park again...

Another for Bushy Ground here

Pro's

Close to gate D

Quiet at night

Quite spacious

Good neighbours

Con's

Miles away from everywhere that isn't the Dance Village, John Peel, The Pyramid & the Other Stage (although I quite enjoy the bimble home!)

Toilets - in the past there have been 3 sets of toilets on Bushy Ground & these were replaced with just one set of compost loo's. There was another set clearly marked on the stewards map but it looks like Glastonbury made a bit of a mistake! The queues were HUGE in the mornings so I just went to the JP ones instead which were empty!

I would definitely camp there again but I'll be working next years festival & I think the campsite is at the opposite end of the site - we'll see how I like that!

Row Mead/Hawkwell (I'm not actually sure which as to get to it you use the path at the top of the Pyramid and go through the hedges we were in first field on the right below BBC studio)

Pros - short walk to Ped gate B when getting in and leaving

- literally 30 second walk from my tent to the back of the Pyramid field

- Good toilets

- food stalls nearby

- quiet at night if you want sleep

Cons

- woken up by Pyramid field sound testing every morning

- quite far from S.E corner

- not much 'atmosphere' from other campers (most other camps kept themselves to themselves)

Aside from one year in South Park (2011) have always camped in that area or Kidney Mead/Big Ground...might suggest a move to everyone if we get tickets next year as each year goes on we watch less at Pyramid field and more in West Holts/Park/Other and S.E corner

CV East 21. Pros: Lots of room for our encampment of caravan, trailer tent, VW Camper and three tents for newbies.

Cons: None during the fest. Only downside was on leaving when we were directed south down the A37 in the opposite direction to home so had to do a big detour/loop round to get back across to the M5.

The same thing happened last year and we just accept that's the way they clear traffic away from the site.

Dairy

Pros

Fairly quiet (neighbour-wise at least)

Close to The Park

Relatively spacious

Cons

Shit food vendors

The hazardous river of mud that ran down to the loos

I didn't find the noise from Arcadia to be much of a problem.

Cons:

- The milkman that woke me up in the morning

Oxylers - Back by the Railway line - have used this spot 3 times.

Pros -

Equidistant from Gate A or D, so we can see how the queues are moving on arrival and choose which to enter by.

Central location and an amble down the track to Greenfields, Park, SE Corner.

Does seem to be a few spaces left into Weds afternoon (tho def seemed busier this year).

Cons -

This year I did decide that I won't be returning to Oxylers if I'm lucky enough to get tickets. It's very cramped and noisy due to it's central location. Also the paths to Arcadia got closed off and this prompted a backlog of people to tramp through the tents to find a shortcut. This then caused a stream of people to walk through dropping cans and rubbish and in one instance pissing on tents!

Next year we are debating going the Campervan route - I don't have the stamina, or possibly even the desire to continue with our current approach to the fest.

Hitchin Hill. Love it up there. Great view, quiet, loads of space, not far from gate A. Unfortunately it's pretty far from most things. I find if you take everything with you in the morning though it's fine and on the walk back there's loads of distractions.

Big ground, second bit of the field up from the path that starts near the beat hotel (so past the junction where the cafe is on the left).

Wasn't expecting a lot from it, but we needed somewhere new after Arcadia had rudely taken our camping spot away so thought it best to try the other side of the site. Was actually the best camping experience in my 5 years.

Pros:

- proximity to pyramid and john peel, to the point you can hear pyramid acts from the tent so chilling out doesn't feel like your missing out

- close to the path to the other stage,

- to get to Williams green area and beyond wasn't that difficult on the pyramid top path either.

- close to the beat hotel for cold San Miguel!

- reasonable food in the area, especially farmhouse kitchen for a full English

- some clean and never busy toilets in the trees by the cafe

- nowhere near as busy as I'd expected it to be, it was at 11am Wednesday as it was all weekend and we had loads of space outside the tent

- an everton flag going up in the neighbouring camp!! Wish I'd spoken to them more but in was always feeling rough when we crossed over at the tent after Thursday afternoon!

- no issues with neighbours/theft/noise etc at all.

- the view out over the whole site from the hill - perfect

Cons:

- only one is that it can be too easy to be casual about getting in the crowd for acts you want - wish is seen more of black keys, dolly in the crowd and missed first 3 elbow songs dithering at the tent. Though on the flip side had a great nap in the tent when struggling Sunday afternoon listening to the 1975 so flip side.

- sleeping on a hill, but with that rain it ran right past so can't really complain - no mud, grass all weekend.

Michaels mead, right next to the lockup and opposite lulu's cafe. This had excellent lighting and access to other areas, toilets just the other side of a hedge - good for access, and splendid for halting smells (and the SLAMM of longdrops doors didnt bother us at all after Wednesday night, perhaps due to the substances imbibed) and fairly quiet and settled. Magnificent bunch of Geordies just behind us, hell bent on self destruction. But nicely. Overall I'd say perfect spot to camp, cos ya couldn't possibly get lost

Was my first time there this year and carried far too much from the coach so camped up in Woodsies.

I was happy with it really, especially since a lot of people had told me it's too far out - only if you don't mind walking for over an hr in the mud from SE corner which I soon found out.

Ended up fairly central near the path and was surprised by how quiet the campsite was, even at 1am on Sunday I could hear people snoring away. Near enough silent at 4am which was a godsend since I don't function with little sleep.

Could've done with more water stands though, one sink wasn't really enough.
