Alt-J are seemingly being held back because of lattitude for R&L... so it's not unheard of.

But.. I highly doubt it but at this stage you can't rule out the possibility with emily saying they wait for shows to sell out before announcing headliners.

That's a bit different since it's two festival republic festivals though. It's not going to be Noel, he's ruled it out enough times now

That would suit (kind of) solo, probably an act they've been after for a long time, but 'massive'?

Yeah, I don't know. To me they are pretty massive - but perhaps not everyone, though I think a lot of people would be surprised how many big hits they have.

could be, tho that doesn't really fit the "been after for years" bit, as Glasto are unlikely to have been chasing an act that wasn't performing.

Yeah, I'm thinking more that they potentially could have been pursuing them many moons ago.

unlikly though it would be, it is a fact the members of the original lineup have been working together http://loudwire.com/former-guns-n-roses-duff-mckagan-izzy-stradlin-new-song/

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/former_guns_n_roses_members_reunite_onstage.html

duff even joined guns and roses as they are now for some south american dates http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/duff-mckagan-recalls-reuniting-with-axl-rose-in-how-to-be-a-man-and-other-illusions-book/

the big sticking point as ever would be slash/axel or though slash`s langage has got a lot less hostile to the idea as of late http://www.sundayworld.com/entertainment/music/slash-positive-about-guns-n-roses-reunion

even if not for glasto, I can see it happening within a couple of years.

I can safely say their performance at Download 2006 was the single most embarrassing performance I have ever witnessed. And I've seen Whimwise in the green futures...

Strangely that gig followed one of the best performances I've seen in the prodigy destroying the second stage that year.

Does anyone actually care about GnR these days? Can't imagine anyone being able to even muster a solitary shit about a reunion on these shores. If they were to get together with the original line up and head over to the UK I would think they would do their own shows, make some decent coin and then give it up again. No festival in their right mind should be going anywhere near them really.

Original/classic GnR will have a lot of people excited when it happens. Glastonbury however would never be able to afford it.

That Joiners announcement for the Glasto warmup slot will be announced at 9am tomorrow - just had a reply from them on twitter about it. Trying to see if it's someone who's been previously announced or not but doubt they'll answer!

you saw axel+friends....its not guns and roses with only one original member no matter what the banner says.

Axel Roses killed Guns N Roses by himself, I'm pretty sure his ego killed him just before he did the two R&L shows and Download which were all disasters

However I do agree, it's not really Guns N Roses, but the real Guns N Roses will probably end up like The Smiths

seen a few live vids of the so called `guns and roses` spoken of......all it is is axel and a few hired hands with no heart or passion in it from any of them.......a proper reunion would be a whole different ballgame

True

A fair point. Although Izzy came on and did a couple he simply could not save that car crash of a performance. He went a long way to completely destroying the legacy of GnR that year.

I learned my lesson after that. I was at Reading 2010 and due to this experience I opted safely for LCD Soundsystem who smashed it. they finished just in time for me to catch Axls pathetic attempts at doing doing a cappella version of paradise city through a Megaphone. I laughed. Others I knew who endure the set did not.

Agreed. Saw " them " at Leeds in 2010. Booed on ( for being late ) and booed off for blaming the organisers for having to go off. In fairness Rose still sounded okish but I wish I had never seen them. Made the same mistake with the Sex Pistols at Loch Lomond. Some things best left alone.

Saw them at Leeds 02 when they had Buckethead and they were just terrible. Kept everyone waiting for an hour and a half before coming on too.

    • There’s a few in there which could go either way or I’m not bothered if I miss but think that’s now be pretty set.  Few rubbish clashes like Kasabian/Loyle plus Reytons/Pixies/CMAT but I’ll head with the lads to the most popular one.   (And yes no Byrne or Twigs, just can’t into either)
    • I saw somewhere they were advertising Lewis' day as him live on Glagow Green and only mentioned Amy Mcdonald and CMAT as support, 0 mention of the festival  I completely agree this will probably be the last one which is a shame because the first 2 seemed so promising and now its turned into middle of the road rubbish with acts you can see everywhere else  Anyone know if the BBC are covering it next week as it'll be fascinating to see how full (or empty) it is
    • Did anyone catch Viagra Boys last night? A rollicking good set, with a little more free jazz than I expected.   if you’re up early, Walabi is doing a super job in the Cupra Pulse. There till six.

    • They really dropped a bollock on their lineup this year. They went with Richard Ashcroft because he did well as Oasis support - But realistically, you're not getting 50k people in a field to hear the 4 or 5 songs they know at like £70+ a ticket. Can't get my head around the Kasabian booking, either. Finsbury Park was a bold move for them, and yes it sold out, but I think you're more likely to see people make the journey to London if they want to see them rather than Glasgow. A second similar capacity show was always going to be a big ask for them.
