  1. Jarvis could take on the lead, with Alex on backing vocals. Problem solved.
  2. Great advice. A few of our group are doing A to Big Ground. It's totally doable if you take a break or two. Tbf you also get dropped at Gate A. A lot of people have to hike their stuff from the car parks just to reach gate A.
  3. Perhaps on sale day, they could cover the map in red dots, like theatres do for seats. You have to grab a spot that's not already been purchased. Imagine the carnage.
  4. I reckon they are right about this. Even the bars struggled last year. 😆 I also think Incident makes a good point. There's a lot of in and out over 5 days.
  5. Fair enough, I've no complaint with that. But do you want all your future music coming from judged contests? There are a lot of great WG sized bands, that are playing other festivals but not Glastonbury. Just seems real strange to me that Glastonbury aren't offering them room to showcase their talents.
  6. Where are tomorrow's main stage artists coming from if they have nowhere to start from and nowhere to be seen? Glastonbury has historically provided for them. There are some excellent female and female-fronted bands out there right now, but barely any are performing at Glastonbury this year. Getting rid of WG isn't going to help the intended ambition of trying to promote gender equality of the acts at Glastonbury in the future.
  7. Agreed. It is a massive loss to the new and upcoming bands, the supportive fans and the festival's ethos overall. When the rumours first started that WG was going I thought, surely they are going to replace it with something similar, possibly larger, elsewhere. Turns out not.
  8. I think it changes every year but I've used them all over the years. Anecdotaly, I reckon D,A,C, Pablo Honey, B in that order. D is the most organised and fluid, A is also good (depending on arrival time). B & C seem to alternate in awfulness from one year to the next. C seems a longer queue but is better organised (more stewards) and moves quicker than B because a lot of peeps in C queue are from the campervan field and aren't lugging all their stuff in so get processed a lot quicker. Last year I arrived at 2am, 4hrs after my mates, who were already in the Gate B queue, got put in a car park closer to Gate C so went there, and waltzed in an hour before them when the gates opened Wednesday morning.

    The Prodigy

I hope they are there too. Also, from the Prodigy today.... Brixton Academy is our home. What happened there a few months ago was tragic and very serious lessons need to be learnt from it. It's the venue that has been at the heart of our band, the one that we have played the most and where fans from all around the world come to see us play. It is super important that it's able to continue to be a place that you can go and see bands play live. If you agree please, put your full support behind them, as we do. https://www.ntia.co.uk/save-brixton-academy/
  10. You're right, of course. But the Leftfield tent (and politics at Glastonbury) gets grief from some festival goers - even on this forum. And a lot of people spend zero time or thought in the green and healing fields. These are the bits of 'old glastonbury' that have survived. How long until these are evicted or leave of their own choice? Or VIP circles or enclosures start springing up?
  11. Admittedly, I bought the tickets a year in advance but tickets for The Cure are/were £56. Bands do still have a say in the ticket price - see Paul Heaton's recent comments. Some acts are just milking their fanbase. On topic, I was expecting £310 tops for Glastonbury this year, so was quite surprised by the hike. It's still good value for money but it's also pricing a lot of people out and that is affecting the demographic. Do we need more rich people at Glastonbury? It's moved a long way from its original roots.
  12. Definitely ticks all the boxes for the legend slot.
  13. This is a bit off-kilter from previous legends but I reckon the Sugar Hill Gang, Furious 5 & Grandmaster Melle Mel. At the very least, they should have a slot somewhere on the Pyramid. They are the pioneering Grandaddy's of hip hop. They play all the crowd-pleasing hits (and more), interact a lot and totally bring the party atmosphere. They work hard, really enjoy what they do and have still got it.
  14. Sports Team. New Dad. Yard Act. All great.
  15. I went down with it on Monday this week for the first time. Really rough Tues & Weds, improved since Thurs BUT today my body & brain currently feels like it does on the Monday after Glastonbury. I'm hoping for a full recovery in the next 10days. 🤞
  16. As per most of the advice here, just fill out the forms. It won't be authorised by any school because they can't, so there is no point writing flowery explanations about the positive experience. You are very unlikely to be fined but if this is worrying you then you will need to lie instead and phone them in sick. You have to play the system however you think best. And just a reminder to all, we have ex education secretary Michael 'raver' Gove to thank for these laws/fines.
  17. What if it had been a labour government overseeing this?
  18. Somewhere along the way we got used to the figure of a BILLION pounds being bandied around. It's worth taking a moment to remember that it is 1000 x million pounds. So with the £13bn PPE waste, plus the £4.2bn fraud write off alone (ignoring all the other government waste & corruption which probably dwarfs these figures) that's 17, thousand, million pounds. Just imagine how that money could have been used to help the needy or been invested in actually, honestly, levelling up deprived areas in this country. It makes me sick to the stomach. In addition the tabloids and ch5 still love stoking hate with a good benefits swindle story but we're all ok with Liz Truss using 500k of tax payers money on a private jet to Australia? I bet we paid for the food & booze at the number 10 parties too. I'm fucking sick of it all.
