In fairness, I remember thinking Stereophonics and Travis were two of the biggest current acts around that time.

Some acts maintain headline status some lose it. Just because they re perceived as unworthy now doesn't mean it was always that way

The Libertines are headlining festivals all over Europe so moaning about where they played before they broke up is irrelevant really.

Although, I think headlining the other stage stage wouldn't be beyond them although we know all our headliners now.

Having watched them at ally pally ( an incredible gig) I believe they could headline the pyramid Sunday no problem and win over a lot of the sceptics among us

Saw them at Finsbury Park and at reading 10. Killed it both times! They are very much a cult band tho, so can see why some people don't think they could headline!

Was at the same gigs, thought they were brilliant. Agree they'd surprise a lot of people if they played in my opinion

Festivals must seriously be running out of bands that can headline if we have managed to string out 1775 pages disscussing the same handful of bands.

Foals, Ed Sheeran, Adele, Florence will all be in the pipeline soon enough

Then people will be talking about the good old days when Foos, KOL and Arctics were headliners

Why couldn't Adele hurry up with her album and headline the Sunday to save us all this bother, how selfish.

Is that the case. I don't know it was a genuine question. Have any of these been confirmed or they just looking clear favourites?

Think it's just the latter, that's what I've gathered from the other headliners thread anyway!

Yea they were defo at the time! Fair point! but Travis lol!

You have to remember that Travis had a huge amount of media attention for both themselves and the festival the previous year, when the heavens opened while they were playing "Why does it always rain on me?" on the other stage, it was like Elbow's performance of "One day like this" that one year that people took to their hearts as a feel good Glastonbury moment.

Travis went down well with the crowd on their headline night, which was alleged to have been the largest crowd ever at Glastonbury at the time due to the huge numbers on site that day with the fences being an illusion and that fact being broadcast on the daily news.
