considering Eavis apparently 'gave' Fleetwood Mac to IOW, i wonder if some kind of deal has been made last minute to have them play both. the three days on the run thing is still the clincher here, but i',m sure if the right amount of money was thrown their way, they'd be up for it (although how much this 'right amount' of money is is another story - a LOT i bet)

i honestly can't think who else it could be that falls in to all of the clues and brackets that have come out (in the past few weeks), unless of course, they've all been red herrings, and it's Prince...

or Dave's lying and it's Blur

So it's not Blur by the looks of things, which I am happy about, so who else could it bloody be? Honestly I struggle to keep track of this and it is seriously distracting from me finishing my final uni assignment for this year!

Here's something relevant....

I still keep hearing bits and pieces that say "it's not Blur".

I have issues with accepting it as true tho, just because they seem the most likely to the names that go around.

I take it your money is still on blur then Neil?

Are you as convinced as all of us that it cant logically be Oasis?

I am hoping that the secrecy surrounding the announcement coupled with Neil not hearing anything recently regarding who it might be, indicates that it is an absolutely huge name and they want to build the anticipation before this megastar name is dropped.

Very much got my head in the clouds this morning.

the album was a highly guarded secret till announced in Feb, even their families didn't know anything about it, so I guess the point is they wouldn't have been able to book any shows without letting the cat out of the bag as they said they wouldn't do any more without new material.

I was told just before Christmas that they were doing a date at Hyde Park though for BST, so that was already being negotiated late last year.

Whilt everyone is saying Blur (and i'd be more than happy with that despite having a BST ticket) wouldn't it be seen as a bit of a cop-out with them headlining IOW and BST?

Also, they were briliant in 2009 and bar Coldplay (please not them again) not many have headlined twice in 6 years recently (may be proven wrong on that).

With the "reunion" talk and the large amounts of bets on them I'm going/hoping for Stone Roses. What's the general consensus on Ian Brown and his mob turning up, do people think its likely?

Bowie is the dream.

I’m going to ask the guys on the site first before linking…..but the interview was done in the last few days I believe

So it's a site that you have insider knowledge on for an interview that hasn't been posted yet? Because no amount of googling is finding this thing.

Neil,

last year you knew well in advance it was Metallica - and they were indicated across most media sources. Do you think Emily et al let it slip out because they knew that it would be controversial and they wanted to allow people to expect it when it was officially announced to minimise moaning?

I wonder if the fact that they're keeping it so hushed indicates it is someone very big that they know will keep the masses happy. Surely if it turns out to be Blur (played recently) or Noel - both great acts but not exactly mind-blowing there will be a sense of media disappointment. Whereas Led Zep, FM, Stone Roses or (in my dreams) Bowie would be be a huge coup and would perhaps warrant the secrecy.

Yes thinking along the same lines!

Has anyone mentioned Prince, Fleetwood Mac or Blur? Just a thought.

They've come up time and again but only because (barring Prince) they are acts that are touring and in the country around that time and haven't been ruled out by other commitments...

I hope you're right, the logic is there. I'm gonna say FM have birnt bidges by going for IOWand that Led Zep couldn't happen.

So it must be Stone Roses o Bowie, happy days.

Well, I’m only giving an explanation for why he might have mentioned the album, as no-one knew about it before it was announced or the leaks of the artwork.

But the gist is that these will be smaller (than festival) shows but place they haven’t played before.

So unless Dave is telling porkies, it’s not them.

It was a link posted yesterday, and no I’m not an insider, just a member of the forum. One of the mods interviewed him in two parts, one before the album release and one after. Looks like it might have been via email. I think it’s only courtesy to ask them first….but it’s genuine and you can find the forum easily on google.

Nope. There's no clear front runner that i'd put money on.

Are you as convinced as all of us that it cant logically be Oasis?

Yep, I'd say that one's impossible.

Liam on stage with NGHFBs isn't impossible tho, I guess, tho I think that one's probably unlikely too.
