Well I fucking love Royal Blood. I don't care what you guys say.

Their album was a solid work of rock music, and they were fantastic when I saw them live.

Just because you say something else is better doesn't make them w*nk. Mind you I have a lot of love for Drenge and The Struts too.

This isn't a dick swinging contest, but for some reason the same bunch of pretentious twats who know everything about music on here always have to make it in to one.

I feel like we're in some sort of huge weird social Panorama experiment, 'would you part with £200+ for a product or service before you even know what it is?!'

HUGE build up to this announcement.

If it's Prince or Oasis I will be overjoyed

If it's Flo I will be suicidal

You say you don't care what other people say about your favourite bands but you're literally the only person that repeatedly makes a point of saying that people aren't allowed to speak negatively about your favourite bands on a music forum.

Dick swinging contest, that'll be next weeks activities if the line up is still non forthcoming

There aren't many great new British bands at all that I'm aware of. Not saying there's no good music, my answer to that is always that you're not looking hard enough, and maybe I'm not, but right now good new music is coming from places like Australia, USA, Spain, or not made by "bands".

Open to any suggestions though. To give you an idea: all the new bands mentioned here are pretty shit, I do quite like Slaves and All We Are.

Still nothing? I have had a shitty month or two, resulting in me.losing my job yesterday. Weirdly my first thought was "this better not ruin my Glastonbury weekend" so please Eavis if you're listening, a little bit of something would cheer me up!

Sorry to hear that. Been there myself. Not nice. Hope things. No scrap that. Things WILL pick up for you if they haven't already. Trust me! :)

Slaves are monumental tossers mind you.

We had this discussion in the self confirmation thread, but I'll just say Wolf Alice. They're not the next Radiohead but they're pretty damn good. Got a song from the album called You're A Germ on YouTube which is dynamite live. There's another load of acts I'm excited about but they're not at that level yet, Gengahr, Bad Breeding, Alimony Hustle and some more like that.

Bad Breeding are probably the best band I've ever seen live (in a support slot capacity).

Nothing from Flo in her R1 interview.. nice upbeat radio-friendly new single that there'll be no escape from for the next six months tho.

Not that I listened to it, you're so fucking right on with that last bit, we'll be like rats in a cage.

Not really. I've mentioned this about 3 times out of 500 odd posts, so "repeatedly" is an exaggeration, and each time was in reference to a different point.

People of course are entitled to speak their mind. But there is a tendency on this forum to give extreme responses like "X is shit" or "oh my god Y is so fucking rubbish" rather than giving a reasoned personal response such as "I'm not a big fan, because I find their tunes simplistic, however here's a good example of a similar artist".

Of course I'm generalising. But the attitude of a few frequent posters on here does make it hard for any newcomers or people who want to have a friendly discussion to join in.

I guess that's my fault for assuming that an Internet forum was a place for reasonable friendly discussion though. Ho-hum

Yeah I'd agree with that. I'm harder pushed to find new British bands I like and most of the ones I do, I could never see moving past club venues and stuff. A lot of good new stuff not coming from US or Britain at the moment - Canada and Australia in particular.

Different perspective though isn't it - I know what it is, just not the contents other than that in ten festivals I've never found it to be anything other than five fucking brilliant days (adjusted for spectacular weather and terrible companion choices)

Still popping in and checking if it's finally dropped though. Have we even got a resale date yet? I was having a look and that too seems all on tenterhooks

I'm not a fan of your posts. I prefer less earnest, more fun, shorter posts.

Coachella is on at the weekend. Last couple of years I've checked out bands on the Glasto initial line up that i don't really know that were also at Coachella. Jagwar Ma being my biggest and best discovery.

At least I've got a Jack White set on Saturday to look forward to.

    • Very quiet in here at the moment.....again.   I hate this time as other festivals start and we see who Sziget should've booked 🤣   The Cure knocking it out of the park once again at Primavera showed that they have fans of all ages and, even if it's felt they don't represent the direction Sziget is going in, they would've been a huge draw.   Ditto The XX, who I've never been a massive fan of tbh, but put me in my place at Primavera with a cracking set.
    • Ballots for BST and Roundhay dates on TfG
    • Yeah, I feel like people are really overlooking just how fantastic Simple Minds are. ABC have a classic 80s new wave album behind them as well.   That being said, yeah it's not worth travelling for. But it's a lineup I would be happy with if it were local to me
    • On the Wet Leg crowd - the opening day always has the worst crowd of the festival. A lot of locals show up purely because it's a cheap evening, often with not much interest in the acts performing, so, while the talking is an issue throughout the festival (and increasingly at gigs/fests everywhere) it's particularly rough on the Wednesday every year. I'll only bother next year if I really like the act playing.  The wristband is basically a souvenir these days, which I like, as I keep them. Also I guess for the festival it's kind of cheap advertising as people walk around the city with them on.
