This looks like the most genuine of everything I've come across in this thread.

Agreed. I can't see why they'd make that up and put their business name to it. Part of me would like to think ME caught wind of them eavesdropping and made it all up just to fuck with them, but the other half wishes it's true.

They didn't mention 12 noon though, did they? Where did that bit come from?

We are all paid up!!

I feel like we're not really helping to convince them to release the name of the 3rd headliner by paying up immediately as soon as the balance window opened, but I got too excited!!

As discussed yesterday afternoon on the 'when will we get an announcement thread' (yes, there are threads other than this one folks!), there was also this tweet by a girl who seems to work there:

Michael Eavis and his wife are discussing the other acts for Glastonbury Festival at work today1f440.png

they're just making it up to get themselves some publicity.

Yes, either they and the girl who works there are publicly lying, or, alternatively, Michael and his wife had lunch at a local bar/restaurant and, given the time of year, were discussing acts for the festival. I know which seems more likely to me!

What publicity though, a few obsessives like us on this forum discussing it? Her tweet was hardly going to make it into the national press

Quite - it doesn't seem like that kind of venue really, and in itself, it's not big enough news to get them any attention aside from us fanatical lunatics! It all seems quite plausible to me.

I can't imagine local businesses wanting to piss the Eavii off, and the consequences of outright lying would surely outweigh any small boost in publicity.

I doubt Michael was discussing the festival acts with his wife in a public place, don't you?

I don't doubt Michael was there. The rest of it is very likely to have been their own inventions tho.

I don't see what benefit it would bring them, there's a possibility it's true that they made it up, but it'd be a bit weird really... almost negative press when people realise they lied.

I don't think there's any reason to think these people are lying or inventing anything. As others have said, pissing off the Eavii (and others, like us), would be really stupid.

Wasn't there a comment from the place saying that there was a group of GF staff accompanying them? It makes it a bit more feasible that it would be the subject. Though I doubt any secrets were disclosed.

I still don't think it will be today.

    • I wonder if they had that vote again they'd vote differently, seeing how successful other mayors like Burnham have been?
    • Doesn't surprise me. West Yorkshire had a vote if they wanted a mayor in 2012 and voted no. The government then ignored the vote and announced the position anyway in 2016.

    • Also agree, it does feel that there isn’t much between the Mercury Prize and the Brit Awards these days.   This part sums it up for me “The complaint isn’t so much about the quality of the music, but more the disappearance of spaces for outsider voices in British music. With streaming algorithms feeling increasingly geared towards big names, and social media acting as a minefield, the Mercury’s pivot to the mainstream closes another door in the face of creative independence.”
