Does anyone have any idea what % of the Glastonbury attendees are 'new' each year?

Those of us lucky enough to have been before know what to expect of the site and it's vast array of areas, and are happy to be going almost despite of the line-up......but we can't help debating the merits or lack of the headliners.

For how many each year is it a completely new experience where they probably don't care too much about the line-up......or are excited by acts that we've seen there before but for them it will be all part of being at Glastonbury with the wow factor of being there at all.

Via registrations Glastonbury HQ must know this number. If it's a high rate of 'new' each year do they really need to worry if they bring out acts that have been there many times before?

explained my point/question badly - but does anyone know?

Newcomers make up an estimated 30% of the Glastonbury population each year

Stevie Wonder was officially anounced as 2010 headliner 5 years ago today (well according to my facebook timehop)

My Timehop said the same thing two weeks ago!! Its a Timehop conspiracy...

I think ME said Stevie Wonder was "probable" on 2 Feb and then it was confirmed on 12 Feb.

Either way, an announcement now would be very welcome!

So 5 years ago we had Stevie and this year we're faced with Florence potentially.

Laughable.

True, but there has to come a time when the ' Stellar" acts run out, we've been spoilt recently, at least i have , started going in 2009 and it's been great, Pyramid wise last year was the first let down personally, but now i've been 5 years straight ( 6 this) i've learned to love the other stages better anyway. I didn't see one Pyramid headliner last year and loved spending my time between, West Holts, the park and Avalon.

Yep. We cant look to the 60s and the 70s for our legends anymore, they are all too old.

Time to look to the 80s....

They already did U2 and Metallica

Lionel is on his way

Freddie, Whitney and Wacko are dead

Axel and Prince are fucking insane

Duran Duran, Bon Jovi, the Bangles, A-ha etc etc are shite ;)

Pretty much leaving the Mode, Madge, the Mac, Elton and AC/DC................meh

Most of the time I think to myself I'd love to have been old enough to go to Glastonbury pre-super fence. When I'd consider it (even though I wasn't actually there) better.

But then I hear talk of Travis and Stereophonics headlining...

Imagine if these boards existed back then. Would their announcement have been greeted with the same contempt as Florence will be?

Sure would have been interesting :)

and let's not forget the year of a one-albumed Coldplay, Stereophonics and Rod Stewart - the year after Bowie slayed it! that must've been a right kick in the nuts

Rog subbing makes up for all of that though. Not to mention all the other delights on the lineup. Rolf and Lostprophets aside, of course.

Isaac Hayes and Roger Waters made for a sublime Sunday afternoon and early evening that year I thought.

One of the best day's craic I can remember at Glasto, topped off nicely with a bit of Groove Armada and Air at the end, although I don't remember as much about either of those

I seem to recall being bored rigid by air, and I was looking forward to them.

    • Dokken are touring until the end of 26 and rumoured to be touring Europe in 2027 according to all the fan forums.    https://www.dokken.net/   Don Dokken still has the serious pipes. Like the Stones though, they'll demand a (deserved) huge fee and probably massive stage alterations.    100k at this. The guys who dress up in the Redcoat costumes bonging faecal sludge from the longdrops.
