Seriously! Olly Fucking Murs!

Ha ha ha ha! Brilliant!

Even funnier..what a lame thread this. Kept me amused at work today though.

Actually it'll only be funny if none of these acts appear on the line up!!

Could I please make a polite request?

Can we keep the back-and-forth Taylor Swift is awesome / No she's not she's shit bitching on the Taylor Swift thread? I regularly look on this thread to see if there is news on either who is headlining, or who has been ruled out, but recently 99% of it seems to be TeamSwift vs TeamAntiSwift.

Clearly if she is booked (or ruled out) either as headliner or otherwise, it would be relevant to this thread, but until then, could the arguing over whether she is any good/ a deserving headliner/ a worthwhile human being (delete as appropriate) be kept to the thread with her name as its title?

She probably has more pressing matters at hand than we do.

Also re: the Taylor Swift thread. I'd feel a bit of a twat berating the idolisation of her in a thread that's pro-her. This is more neutral. We'll probably talk about another possible headliner when we have another possible headliner to talk about.

If taylor swift is that huge it just seems strange to me that i've not knowingly heard any of her music previously - I've actively tried to avoid mumfords and failed completely. That's not to say that she couldn't headline, and draw a decent crowd, but there would be plenty who would be mystified if she did.

Oh and the arguement about being big in the US necceserily meaning anything over here? Phoenix - coachella/jp tent 2013 - and they're not even American.

To be fair I couldn't name one Metallica song or tell you who it was if I heard one of their songs on the radio. Not one. But I know they're massive and I understood/didn't moan when they were announced as headliners last year.

I don't think you should draw comparisons with Metallica because one of the best things about Taylor's music is that it's very accessible so you can just go along and enjoy her show without knowing much of her stuff beforehand. Not something the vast majority found possible at Metallica (albeit there were some exceptions).

Now I like you Zac but that's bollocks of the highest order. A sweeping generalisation that takes in your point of view and assumes the majority of people have the same one.

As far as I'm aware, I've only heard the one Taylor Swift song. If it's an indication of the rest of her output, neither me nor any of the people I'm going to Glastonbury with this year would find any enjoyment in her accessible shite.

If you or I could be arsed trawling back through the threads on here, you will find a lot of comments from people who went along to Metallica out of curiosity and ended up enjoying their schtick.

However Metallica aren't a mainstream act in the way that Taylor Swift is, and people weren't going around claiming everyone will know their songs.

People really need to stop making such abysmal comparisons as Taylor Swift vs Metallica.

Okay :) I was basing it on everyone I went to 'try' Metallica with feeling the same way as I did, and everyone I spoke to the next day feeling the same way, and everyone I spoke to when I got home feeling the same way having 'tried' the TV coverage, but if that was too sweeping then I apologise :)

    • It feels really busy this year, loads of big groups of youngsters too. Slightly different vibe to previous years I've been. As with Tramlines, they're very chatty during sets and there's a constant stream of them in and out of the crowd... definitely feeling my age 😂   The Quarry stage I think is a lot smaller than previous years - seems similar size to Squid/Leadmill. Some sets have been difficult to get in.   I think I've reached my limit with mid-tier indie guitar bands. There's been quite a few this weekend where I've gone over to see them then walked away after 20 mins. Surprisingly, enjoyed the Fratellis set the most in this genre. Probably getting on for 20 years since I last saw them. Wasn't expecting them to do Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, which was fab!   Hugely enjoyed the Happy Mondays yesterday, and same but different with Radio Free Alice who I saw again on Friday, following Tramlines last weekend. A big run of pop acts today - Scissor Sisters will be fantastic!
