Okay :) I was basing it on everyone I went to 'try' Metallica with feeling the same way as I did, and everyone I spoke to the next day feeling the same way, and everyone I spoke to when I got home feeling the same way having 'tried' the TV coverage, but if that was too sweeping then I apologise :)

What a blandly homogenous friendship group.

Now I like you Zac but that's bollocks of the highest order. A sweeping generalisation that takes in your point of view and assumes the majority of people have the same one.

As far as I'm aware, I've only heard the one Taylor Swift song. If it's an indication of the rest of her output, neither me nor any of the people I'm going to Glastonbury with this year would find any enjoyment in her accessible shite.

If you or I could be arsed trawling back through the threads on here, you will find a lot of comments from people who went along to Metallica out of curiosity and ended up enjoying their schtick.

Exactly. 2 of the people I went with were not really into them, went along and really enjoyed it.

Accessibilty depends on the angle you are coming at it from.

Shake it off (being one of the 3 tunes I know by her) isn't a very accessible song to me.

The Unforgiven (being one my mate knew) by Metallica for him was.

Could I please make a polite request?

Can we keep the back-and-forth Taylor Swift is awesome / No she's not she's shit bitching on the Taylor Swift thread? I regularly look on this thread to see if there is news on either who is headlining, or who has been ruled out, but recently 99% of it seems to be TeamSwift vs TeamAntiSwift.

Clearly if she is booked (or ruled out) either as headliner or otherwise, it would be relevant to this thread, but until then, could the arguing over whether she is any good/ a deserving headliner/ a worthwhile human being (delete as appropriate) be kept to the thread with her name as its title?

Thankyou.

This is shit. Coming back in a few weeks when people are actually talking about realistic headliners.

I think Metallica and Taylor Swift are quite truly incomparable.

One of them sings along to various backing tracks

One of them shreds guitar string bare, beats drum skins bare.

One of them is 11 years into their career

One of them is 33 years into their career.

One of them is a thrash metal pioneering group.

One of them has joined the commercial pop tag

One of them has played in all seven continents

One of them hasn't

One of them has played to one-million people on the outskirts of Moscow

One of them hasn't

I think Metallica have been hard done by being compared to Taylor Swift.

After all people are much more likely to be fooled into liking a pretty girls music rather than 4 Middle aged men's music.

Hey, let me try!

One of them has a name that begins with an 'M', the other has a name that begins with a 'T'

Did I do it right.

    • sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.
    • Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.
    • I think it will very much vary on who there is to book who they know will sell out a day.    They’ve co-headline and full headline stuff in future, there no reason at all they won’t do it again, even if it means cutting someone’s set by 15 mins or having a band less in a big bands day…   They’re not going to not book Foo fighters and instead get the equivalent of Florence and C&S just to not have a band do a big set…   …unless of course they think it will make them more money…
    • Maybe some right wing leaders like Meloni are just playing to their base, like Reform have been here talking about them ending up at Calais.
