Is there any chance that Depeche Mode would end up back in the running for 2015?

I was a drunken mess with an awful combination of Guiness and Cider at the weekend and ridiculed the suggestion from a friend that Depeche Mode are going to headline in 2015 ( as much as he protested that it came from a farming source near Pilton)

Now that the fug has cleared my head - they were in the 2014 running/thoughts until fairly late on, is there a chance of them for next year?

They weren't in the running by late on.

I'd heard about convos for headlining 2014 long before the 2013 festival happened. In fact, I had more names for headlining in 2014 than I had for headlining in 2013 at that moment in time.

By around the end of the 2013 fest I was starting to hear that it was unlikely they'd headline because they didn't want to continue on the road for another full year, and I hinted at them already looking unlikely in the article where I first revealed them as a possible headliner for 2014.

Whether it will actually come about somewhen will I guess depend on how well doing Glastonbury might fit into their wider touring plans (including considerations about how it might adversely affect sales elsewhere, I'd guess).

Not really kept up on this thread, but the "Would Kanye At Glastonbury Work?" thread has got me excited at the idea of him headlining... Is it more hope and speculation, or is there any sort of evidence that might support my hope?
The thought of Ye headlining Glastonbury is like this...

i'd absolutely love him to headline, but the only real thing pointing to him headlining is that he has an upcoming new album and will no doubt he touring that album in the coming year, and that's about it. so yeah, just hope and speculation at this point. fingers crossed though

    • I hope it stays under £400.  A lot of us aren't flush with cash.  Charities are great but do they need £1 mil (I jest)
    • You're not wrong - but i still don't like it!  F5 forever
    • Its fascinating how you turn every point of conversation into a matter of 'winners' and 'losers' - everyone owes you because . . . actually, i dont really understand why, because you predicted that things would get more expensive over time?
    • New Overmono album is... just good for me. Had high hopes which were later dashed a bit after listening to some of the singles but they brought me back around enough to appreciate some very nice work in there. https://music.apple.com/ie/album/pure-devotion/1894298100
    • I don't really worry about headliners (unless there's a real possibility of a once-in-a-lifetime artist landing for it) but I'm starting to feel a bit cold on the names floating around bar Fontaines.  Harry Styles and Sam Fender, I can see the value and commercially speaking, they've earned it.  Sabrina Carpenter is obviously popular enough to do it - but after she's headlined everywhere else and done Coachella earlier this year, is it not just a bit predictable to follow what other festivals have done?
