Good heavens roger who are these gentlemen that have just come on stage?

I think they go buy the name metallica .

Would you be so kind to hold my pims darling,I'm going down the front this looks like it could be bloody good fun : )

Lighten up,if it's not your thing cool,go do what makes you happy in another area of the festival.

You can please some of the people some of the time all of the people some of the time some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time

What's your point?

Because you haven't really expressed it with or without sarcasm or sneering, taunting lucidity?

The above setlist looks very black album heavy, reckon through the never and tread could be dropped for two of ride, creeping death, fuel or memory remains.

Either way its a fairly accessible set and should go down a storm

Take out Hit the Lights and open with Blackened, plus like you said sub in ride, fuel and memory remains plus a cover, probably whisky in the jar and thats pretty close to what should be played.

Just wondering, can people see the BBC getting excited about Metallica or will they go out and look at acts on other stages while they are on! Maybe Metallica on BBC Three. Not really sure how coverage works when I am there! Just watch whatever happens to have been recorded on return! And let's be fair would Prince allow them to show it if he had of played!

Metallica will totally be on the main coverage...

http://stagedoor.fm/2014/05/01/forget-metallica-mystery-glastonbury-headliner-may-just-well-foo-fighters/

Thought I'd post this here as it's probably the most appropriate place. Reliable source?

I immediately and unhesitatingly retract anything even slightly anti-Metallica I might have said, thought or hinted at.

As I have never ever given Metallica a listen out of pure ignorance most likely, could people be kind enough to suggest a few 'accessible' albums of their for me to go out and buy tomorrow? Would like to have at least given them a chance before Glastonbury.

I'd take Metallica over Foo Fighters for sure.

I suppose they could also tie it in with Nirvana/Kurt's 20th anniversary too.

Kasabian and Foo Fighters shared the bill at Reading 2012, while Arcade Fire were 2010. Having been to both of those festivals I'd feel a bit shortchanged.

But in all honesty the headliners is all about the hype and the announcement for me. Once I am at a festival I care much more who I see in the day and get a good view of, rather than some tiny dots on the stage from afar. Having said that, I can't wait to see the not so tiny dots of Barack Obama and the Pope during Arcade Fire.

Metallica don't really do `accessible` they make music for themselves and there fans as do most rock and metal acts. Thats not a jibe by the way just one of the best things about rock and metal music! (about one of the only genres of music left where the bands are actually in it for the love of the music and the genre and arent just trying to make something that`ll please the kids who buy the singles and get them in the charts lol) most commercial albums though are the black album and load/reload or id say the latter 2 dont really represent the bands back catalog very well and are not many of the songs your likely to hear.

If you want there `best` stuff, check out right the lightning and master of puppets though.

Cheers mate, I will give the black album, load/reload, right the lightening and master of puppets a try. Metal hasn't ever been a genre of music I could 'get into' although the last time I tried to give it any sort of a go I was 18, maybe I will enjoy it more now I'm a tad more grown up haha. Either way I'm sure they'll put on a brilliant set at Glasto and I can appreciate they're good at what they do, I'd rather they headline over Foo Fighters as well if only because it'd so Glastonbury in a more diverse light.
