What's this nonsense about "firms" arranging fights at Courteeners gigs over Twitter?

Im not saying its not complete bullshit (infact im guessing it is) but football firms do now fight at gigs rather then football sue to the lack of police presence.

though these firms are normally like 4 people so im guessing its complete shite.

I don't know why there are so many fucking drongos here that love The Courteeners, I'm ashamed to say that two members of my immediate family class them as their "favourite band". My sister goes to every gig they play that she can get to, freely acknowledges that their crowds are horrendous but just accepts it because she loves the band. I didn't know they weren't one of the biggest bands in the country until very recently, I remember being completely amazed at how low they were on the Leeds 2012 bill, I know about 10 people that went purely for them, and there was a big group of tents near us that year with Courteeners flags up, barely left the campsite but for them. What is the appeal? They're utterly fucking shocking.

Quite a lot of my mates like Courteeners, I'm the only one in my circle who doesn't like them which I'd be fine with if they didn't say they are one of the best Indie bands but when I say Arcade Fire they tell me they're shit and so is my music taste :P

But no one I know that likes them is a dick though (except this girl I know does get drunk at nearly every show she goes too) and they're all nice people. I even know someone who is quite posh who like them :P

But these are the troubles I have with living up north

Surely you've noticed by now that most people don't like the stuff that we on here do, and that no one's going to be impressed by/care about bands like Arcade Fire?

I live up north with none of these problems. In fact, I know loads of people that like bands like Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Oasis, The Libertines and acts you might associate with The Courteeners but I don't think I know anyone who has given a toss about them since the debut album. EDIT - Having said that, I'm a bit older than you so your mates would have been listening to god knows what when the first album came out.

You're just begging for your gig list to be quoted here ;)

Why? I have nothing to hide :P

Yeah, but I like to think that everyone I know like Arcade Fire

Probably, one of the most popular bands in my sixth forum

I thought this was pretty standard practice unless you were driving back home after?

I don't really know that many people that do it to be honest. I've had a bit to drink at gigs before but she told me she could barely remember any of Foals when she saw them, which I don't get but it is her ticket and if she has fun who am I judge

    • If the below link works - thats interesting.   While I don't particularly put much stock in that account as a source (never seen it before though, tbf), and I can pick a hole or two (see below) in what he says - the timing of it is a week before I had the Fontaines '27 stadium info (same stadium he says on there, Tottenham). The info, or part of it, matches up.   Holes I'd pick: I'd have to watch again but I THINK he says 'end of year' for Tottenham - not possible, for a number of reasons, though he's probably just got his words mixed up there. It's Summer '27. He also says Glastonbury is/would be based on how the album does. That doesn't stack up to me, unless it was a 2028 thing. I suppose that could stack up, but still seems a bit of an odd approach. I would personally still expect it to be 2027 alongside the stadium gigs, IF they are gonna do it, though I've still not got a Scooby when the album is gonna drop, only that the tour is due for Spring (or early) next year.   Interesting, nonetheless.   https://www.instagram.com/reel/DaOB3Q9qkwW/
    • I was hoping that they would just do a tour like they were set to in 2020, rather than having Download as their UK appearance. If they are at DL, I would be surprised to see them headline. I think they sub under Deftones or SOAD
    • well, we might know by the end of next month if they drop the lineup early again
    • I'm definitely not camping 🙂.  My 17 year old Daughter and her friends are there 3 days and commuting back to Sheffield each day as didn't want to camp .  I am taking and picking up the Saturday so thought I may as well get a ticket as love Fontaines DC - need to do a lot of research on the other acts though to fill my day.    I walked through the camp site other year the day Arctic Monkeys played and it was like a War Zone.  My Son has camped a couple of times but didn't fancy my Daughter staying over.
