They've had more influence because they've been more famous. Without The Beatles, another band of that era of a similar style would have been the primary influence, and music wouldn't be phenomenally different. A few different things and everyone could be citing someone else. Other bands, like The Velvet Underground, Captain Beefheart, Roxy Music (1st 2 albums), Talking Heads, The Sonics, have had a far greater impact upon the sounds that have followed them. The Beatles were one band in a movement, and the band that became massive.

It's little different to how Nirvana weren't the forefathers of grunge, but the act that became most successful, and thus cited more often.

The Beatles were really good at what they do, I don't really have anything against them, but I've never wanted to listen to a Beatles album. It's a not style I find particularly exciting or interesting.

I haven't seen it mentioned so far (might of missed it) but Brad Wilkes is playing with Sound City Players, maybe that's what Black Sabbath meant by him having other touring commitments instead of with Rage.

One band who would make the lineup a hell of a lot stronger is Slash. Dont know what Alterbridges plans are for the summer but he would be great 3rd or 4th on the lineup.

It would be quite good to see them at a festival, the only bad thing would be what kind of slot they would take, and would it be worth it at the expense of other acts.

i wouldn't imagine it'd be subheadline at the very minimum. Them crooked vultures, the rubbish that they were got that spot at download. You could say they headlined and then people saw a totally separate gig

Phoenix have announced their new album is out in April.

Playing Rock En Seine on the Saturday so would have to be Friday Leeds, Sunday Reading. Same as FOB.

TCV were awesome at their own gig at brixton I seem to remember. I also seem to remember being deaf for two days after as well
